Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

The timer needs to be replaced. The repairman is telling me that there is no such thing as "low" heat for delicates or "high" heat for permanent press. He is saying that it is all the same temp just differnt drying times. True?

Not true. The heat is controlled by a thermal breaker plus the heating element is wired in such a way so that the setting can have lower heat. It even has a setting where there is no heat at all.

My frigidare affinity dryer is only starting on delicates and touch up, can you tell me why this is happening?

Hi.

If machine runs only in low heath cycles, then there is a problem with timer control, low heath selector, or heating assembly (cycling thermostat).

The first thing to do would be locating the tech sheet. The sheet is tucked inside an envelope located inside the control panel assembly. In the tech sheet you will find instructions to run a diagnostic cycle. The diagnostic cycle will return an error code that will help locating the fault.

With different Frigidaire Affinity dryers you need to press and hold Pause Cancel and SELECT for about ten seconds, then leave, put selector to NORMAL, temperature selector to HIGH HEAT and touch START to run the diagnostic cycle. The procedure for this specific model is described in the tech sheet.

Regards.

Ginko.

We have a Kenmore 80 series washer that stops in mid-cycle when using the normal/regular option. It stops before the rinse cycle. However, it rarely does the same when using the heavy duty and delicate...

1. This is an issue is usually associated with the timer. Symptoms you describe are a malfunctioning timer and it needs replacement. If this is a timer that is software based the firmware module will have to be replaced. You will have to call your local appliance repairman or if you can do it yourself it will require the schematic and the service manual to disassemble and reassemble the module or electronic timer circuit.

We have a Bosch dishwasher model SHU5315UC/U06. When we ran a "Regular Wash" the dishwasher ran continuously and the timer did not count-down. None of the Delicate or Rinse and Hold buttons responded. ...

My father-in-law has a Bosch and they had the same problem. The tech guy said it was not heating properly and that caused it to continously run because it won't tick down the timer if it doesn't reach a certain temp, so try turning your faucet as hot as you can, right before you turn on the dishwasher and see if that is the problem, if not the heating element might not be working properly. If you still have a warranty, try to get them to see and fix it, otherwise, get a repairman to check it out. You can also turn up your hot water heater, but not so hot it would be dangerous to use, but enough to get the temp up. Otherwise the heating element might need to be replaced.
