If there is something wrong with your hard drive it would say "operating system not found" and it wont even do anything.

Trying to start Lenovo laptop but just the "Lenovo" word shows up & nothing happens

Try to remove your hard drive. The company I work for uses mainly lenovo laptops and we have found if a hard drive goes faulty it will hang at this LENOVO screen. if you remove it and it progresses to the bios (it won't load windows since the hard drive is not in the laptop) you might need to consider replacing the hard drive and reinstalling windows.

Sony vaio e series laptop model pcg-71211w is showing some hard disc problem and not starting normaly. It starts after pressing F1....

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Smart failure hard disk 4 :wd1600bevt-222ct0-(si)

The error S.M.A.R.T. refers to Hard Drive hard drive that has detected damage to the disk and failure of the drive is imminent.

If the computer is booting to Windows after the SMART error, then back up all data on the disk immediately. The hard drive will need to be replaced to resolve this issue.

Also, I suggest that you start the Computer to BIOS and check whether the Hard Drive is detected in BIOS.

If the Hard Drive is detected in BIOS, then try to perform reinstalling Windows supplied in your computer once before getting the hard drive replaced.

My laptop wont start up, It says "system disc or non system disc error, replace and press any key.." why? :(

you have it set to boot from cd so when you startup the computer it attempts to read the cd and than boot an operating system for you either remove the disk or enter your bios menu and set your boot order to negate the cd drive

Hi, My lenovo g550 laptop's wd 3200 sata hard disk show S.M.A.R.T failure error and does not help to start operating system. How it can be repair wituout removing them from laptop?

This warning is to let you know the hard drive may fail sometime in the near future so you should backup your data frequently.
When the hard drive eventually fails, you can replace the hard drive, re-install Windows, your programs and data.
The hard drive are devices that cannot be repaired, they are replaced.

When turning on my dell inspiron 1526 you can hear the hard drive start- but screen remains black- will only start if I take out battery, unplug, replace battery, plug in and try and start again.. how can...

Same thing happened to my 1525 after my drunk friend got angry and pounded his fist on the bottom left part of keyboard (the hard drive). Replace your hard drive if it's still under warranty. If not your better off getting a new laptop.

Bios not find hard disk

If the laptop cannot detect the hard drive. This can be caused by a faulty disk controller, or a faulty disk drive.

1st. Reseat the hard drive and see if the laptop boots up.

2nd. Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.

3rd. If the BIOS can't detect the hard disk, the remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer detects this drive as an external disk drive and you can see the contents of the hard drive, then the hard drive is OK and the fault is in the laptop.

4th. If the hard drive cannot be detected then the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace the faulty hard drive in your laptop and install Windows to get an operating laptop again.

Laptop wont start. Told hard drive has crashed.

Sounds like you need to replace your hard drive. First you need to figure out what laptop model you have, then look up the specifications on the manufacturer's website to see if you have an "IDE" hard drive, or a "SATA" hard drive. Purchase a replacement hard drive, and install it into the computer. Then reinstall windows xp and you're good to go again.

Disk error searching for boot rercord from CDROM not found

Hi rmirish,

The hard drive has built in SMART diagnostics to check itself to make sure all is well. If the SMART is showing status BAD then the hard drive is either either starting to go out. Your best bet is to try to backup any data (if you have any) on the hard drive and replace the hard drive.

Hope that helps,

Take care,

Michael
