Loosen the bolt on the clamp holding the tube. Remove the seat from the tube. Put a piece of 2 X 1 or similar on top of the tube and tap the timber with a mallet or hammer. Just don't hit it too hard or you may do damage to the end of the tube or bend it especially if it is aluminium. Spraying some WD40 or similar on the tube where it enters the frame may help also.

Raise handlebars on mountain bicycle

This will depend on what sort of stem you have. Most mountain bikes these days use a clamping style stem that simply grips the steerer tube on the fork. Some will have limited adjustment in that they may have a stack of 2 or 3 spacers that you can place either over the stem or below the stem. This does not give much adjustment. On my wife's bike the stem is actually adjustable similair to this: MEC 110mm Adjustable Stem Mountain Equipment Co op
and might be a good option for this bike.

Lower seat height

More info required ... what bike? Pedal bike? loosen the bolt on the tube under the seat and adjust the seat stem downward until it will go no more. If it is already in the lowest position, you will have to wait for your daughter to grow a little.

Is this bike to big for a 10 year old who is about 4'10 and weighs about 90-95 lbs?

I assume you want to get the right size for a Christmas present. Here's a suggestion. Tell him you need to measure him for pant. Have him straddle a broom handle that you hold horizontally. He should stand flat footed and the broom handle should be as high as you can raise it without pushing hard against him. If the end of the handle is touching the wall, make a pencil mark on the wall where it touches the wall. Then measure the distance of that mark from the floor. That measurement should be about the same as the distance from the bike's top-tube (the part of the bike frame between the seat and the handle-bars) and the ground. Essentially, you are measuring to see if the boy can straddle the top-tube of the bike with his feet flat on the ground. If he is growing fast, you might figure he can be a bit on his toes to straddle the top-tube. A realistic max height would be to straddle that tube with one foot flat and the other on his toes. Good luck!

How do you lower the idle on a 2004 cr125?

There should be a screw in the carb body turning this in raises the tick over turning out lowers it normally. Check the throttle cable[s] adjuster is set correctly. Also check that the throttle action is free running if the cable is not well lubed this can prevent the carb slide from seating at the proper level inside the carb. Some bike have adjusters on the carb top make sure this is not keeping the slide from seating. If you get somewhere fairly quiet open the throttle about half way and let go you should hear a metallic clink as the slide seats on the stop.

I recently purchased a 1978 Honda Goldwing. It had some old gas in the tank so I removed the old gas and replaced the fuel filter. The bike was idling fair before now it's extremely high. Does this...

If the bike was idling OK when you ran it on the old gas, maybe the carbs were adjusted while the old gas was in the tank. The new gas could have cleaned the fuel system some and that's why your idle jumped. The fuel filter will definitely not cause your idle to go higher so no need to worry there.

How do you raise the seat?

  • The seat connects to the seat post and the seat post inserts into the seat tube
  • you will have to first loosen the seatpost clamp located where the seat tube meets the seat post.
  • after loosening, you should be able to raise the seat to your desired height, just don't forget to tighten teh seatpost clamp.

How do you raise the handlebar of a Schwinn Ridge AL 26" bike? I want to add a child carrier and I need to raise the handlebar to make it fit.

The handlebars stem is an Aheadset-style and as such has spacers below it to set its height. Once the steerer tube is cut to fit the combination of stem and spacers there's no going UP, only down. Stems can be replaced with different rises and lengths. Maybe that would help. A Bicycle Shop would have everything you need and the know-how to decide if you can mount the child carrer.

Back ache, can handlebars be raised? - How?

The stem can only raised safely within the steerer tube end to a line etched on its quill. There are stem extenders or even fixed-angle higher stems.

The sccret to getting a quill stem to move is to loosen the center (vertical bolt a few turns and then rap it down with a mallet to unseat the expander wedge inside the steerer tube.

It's possible your frame is sized improperly for you and your preferred riding position.

I would recommend you go to a real Bicycle Shop for those assessments.

The seat is too high for me.

there should be a lever by the seat that swins one way to loosen if it is a newer bike then you set the desired height and pull the lever back to tighten. On older bikes look where the seat pole goes into the frame of the bike- there should be a nut and bolt in this area. you have to loosen it and slide the seat down and tighten it back up.

Adjusting seat on a Women's Schwinn Jet Star 26" bike

It sounds like the bike you bought was too big for you. Your only option here is to replace the seatpost with one that does not have this feature. You can pick up a seatpost at a bicycle shop and they should install it for you, too, if they are a good shop.

Hope this helps a little,
