Hi mkjoseph1013...

Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your carburetor jets or fuel passages.

Make sure you are getting spark at the spark plug, to do this:
Remove your spark plug and check to be sure you are getting fire at the spark plug.
You do this by grounding the plug on the head of the engine and pulling the crank rope, if you are getting spark then:
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank of weedeaters.
Also make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.
If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.
Once you have your carburetor rebuilt that should solve your problem.

Troy Bilt not turning over. Battery charged, new starter, but nothing. Amp gauge registers when turning on key, buts that's it.

First find the starter solenoid. Take an old screwdriver (one that you don't mind damaging) jump across the two main terminals. The start should engage. Next see if the solenoid getting power to it trigger terminal. If it is there replace the solenoid. If not then try applying 12v to the trigger if the solenoid now engages the starter you have either a safety switch that is inoperative or a bad ignition switch.

Why won't my Gamo big cat not **** when I fold barrel.

The three reasons that stop a springer cocking are
1 main spring has broken and stopping the piston reaching the trigger sear and engaging . remove spring to check
2 trigger is jammed and not allowing engagement of sear or trigger unit is broken (may be a spring broken easy fix )
3 piston engagement slot damaged broken ( replace piston)

If it is trigger wear problems think about getting it repaired or replaced depending on length of time owned

STARTER MOTOR ENGAGING ALL THE TIME

I would suspect the ignition switch. Power has to be getting to the starter solenoid to activate it. See if you can disconnect the power going into the switch, If the problem stops,.... solved. If problem persists, look for loose wire that could be shorting at the solenoid.

Wh;y does my cub cadet 1554 tractor mower lose power when engaged?

  • Does deck turn freely? Check and be sure mowing deck is not jammed or bad bearing etc. If nothing is wrong with deck, then check fuel filter, air cleaner element, dirty fuel system, bad gas, water in fuel, restricted fuel flow. Lack of fuel will cause engine to have lack power.

Must pull the trigger every time to shoot a nail, should be able to hold trigger and tap where i want the nail.

On some models the contact fire is not available. There is a flap that is under the actual trigger. When you press the safety in, it engages this little flap which allows the trigger to be engaged. As soon as the safety comes up this little flap falls back down disengaging the trigger.

There is an optional trigger assembly that you can put on this nailer. You need parts 174299 and 174300 to make this gun a contact nailer.

Dear, cb_scherer,
I can only give you some hints because I do not know the type and model of gun. First if your gun is put together with rivets and not screws, this could not be serviced. In this case you have to buy a new one. Now if you have screws, normaly Torx(T15) or sometimes Philips....you can open the gun to have a look inside. Some guns have an adjustment for correcting the travel of the trigger. This is a simple alen screw. Now if damage has been caused to the pin that is pushed by the trigger, then also a new gun is a must. In my opinion I rarely service guns. Infact the only guns that are serviceable ,..are of industrial machines. As I said, I do not know what type of machine you have and so I do not know the type of gun you have.
My general advice, is to buy a new gun. A gun is not that expensive. And working with a faulty gun not only in time will damage the machine, but it is also not safe!!
Regards,
Fulltech.

03 silverado turn the key to start but starter will not engage

Interesting problem, on the starter is a "trigger" wire that originates from the ignition (may run to the power distribution center). When the truck is started 12 volts runs down that wire and activates the solinoid on the starter. Put a 12 volt test light on the trigger wire by the starter, have someone hit the key to start, test light should come on, if not chase wire back and look for a break in the wire or replace trigger wire.
