Again, the cover is closed, vertical. there is no sensor on the US Model. Problem is likely that the computer has switched to the european mode that has the CD print feature. If so, how do you restet the computer to the US mode?

This may be cause by the CD tray

You can find the inner cd tray cover by lowering the door where printed paper exit. Just above the floor and all the way back of the inside of this area is a peice of grey plastic sort of shaped like a fat elongated "U" - this is the inner CD tray cover - that can swivel down to form a mini platform for the CD tray to rest upon as well as act as a guide for the CD tray as it does its job.

There is a rectangular black piece of plastic, about13.1cm by 0.9cm,located at the base of the CD tray inner cover that obscures the opening for a CD tray to be inserted in for printing. Careful removal of this, plus a few other simple steps found at http://pixma.allhyper.com/, will enable your MP830 for CD printing.

I get that message, or a similar one, if I left the CD inner tray cover down and then try to print something using a different source. Exactly why you are experiencing this error if you did not modify for Cd printing means either someone messed with the printer's internal setting or the Cd inner tray cover is at least ajar. Make sure that CD inner tray cover is swiveled up (a vertical position).

If not this, then try the flap in front of the ink tanks'.

Please rate my answer if this has helped, if this hasnt helped, please ask further ideas via comments on here and I will respond

Warm Regards

I apologise for not getting back to you sooner, I have opnly just been notified of a update being added. I am also in the UK and work during the day and assist on here of a evening.

Resetting the language requires these instructions to work but, before you get started, it's important to note that you need to read and understand the instructions properly before you even think about doing anything because if you mess up you can really ruin your whole day.
Think of it like bomb disposal for beginners..

Right, that aside here's how you do it using the printer control panel:

    1. Make sure the printer is turned off

    2. Hold the red "Cancel/reset" button (top right corner on control panel) down with a finger on your right hand

    3. Press and HOLD DOWN the "Power" button

    4. Let go of the "Cancel/reset" button and then press it twice

    5. Let go of the "Power" button

    6. Wait for the "Copy" button to stop flashing and go solid green

    7. Press the "Cancel/reset" button five times

    8. Press the "Power" button once

    9. Now press the "Cancel/reset" button the number of times required according to your country codes (see "Country Codes" below).. For Europe I did four presses

    10. Press the "Power" button one more time to commit the setting

    11. Press the "Power" button again to turn off the printer

    12. Your printer should now be set properly and you just turn on as normal

This is an incredibly simplified list but it includes the detail that
the service manual leaves out which is you need to press the power
button to set the "setting" you want to be in.

    Country codes

    • 0 times - No change of the destination

    • 1 time - Japan

    • 2 times - Korea

    • 3 times - US

    • 4 times - Europe

    • 5 times - Australia

    • 6 times - Asia

    • 7 times - China

    • 8 times - Taiwan

This is an abridged version of the instructions provided and doesn't
include some of the information about which press flashes what light,
but it should help if you already have a service manual and can't figure
out how to set the mode after X presses.

What you want to do is to check the unit for any paper that may have got stuck in the printer. Use a flashlight. When closing the cover do so gently until contact is made with the chassis, now give it a firm push into closing/lock position.

It is possible that the sensor is either become disconnected or has failed, in which case one would either need to replace the sensor or reconnect it.
My advice to you would be to Claim warranty support if you can. An alternative would be to contact a printer technician to commence the repair.

Try reinstalling the drivers for this printer, download the latest off the Cannon website.
Try and locate the switch, and check it for obstructions or damage.

Take care!

Have you reinstalled the drivers? Also what happened before you got this error?
You are not going to believe this but Canon's solution to the problem is to close the cover and Press the On/Off Switch to reset the unit. I am sure you have done this many times.
Click here to download the drivers for your printer.

What Operating system are you using?

If that till does not work then you could contemplate on updating the Firmware, However a failed attempt will render the Printer useless, firmware updates are usually done by printer technicians.

Another option is to disconnect both the power and USB Port connections and then press and hold the Power button for 30seconds while the unit is unplugged and off.

Good News, on further research I have come up with an excellent idea.

Click here to send an inquiry to Canon regarding your problem, they should be able to tell you exactly what needs to be done. They will either tell you what to do or they may tell you that component X has died and that you need to bring your printer into the service center so that they can install a replacement part. You may from this be able to claim warranty support, in which case the repair may be free.

I am really determined to help you!

Now that you have e-mailed a Canon representitive, the only other way that possibly may fix your problem is to flash the firmware.
Caution a failed attempt will render your printer useless.
Click the link above the one to download the drivers, then click on the Firmware button. Now download the top firmare for Windows Operating System or if you are using Mac download the bottom one.
Lastly double click on the downloaded firmware, your printer should be on at all times. Do not cancel or abort the update.
    Take care!

Hi there,
have you checked the bottom paper feed tray? see if that was left open or make sure that it's tightly in place.
What's the last thing you did on the printer?
did you change cartridges, reloaded paper, etc.?

on the manual if you have it, try going to #5100 about the inner cover then go back to the drawings and it is the flap infront of the ink tanks they are referring to.
Make sure you close that as well ok.
Check everything inside make sure all lids that needs to be closed are seated in their proper place ok.

If this doesn't work then that means the sensor went bad. If your machine is under warranty get the printer replaced. If its not then you'll need to call Canon to see if the part is available. They would help you troubleshoot the issue was well to confirm.

Getting "inner cover is open" message

The inner cover is a flap on the inside in front of the carriage when it is at rest when the cover us open. You had to flip the inner cover down to access the ink cartridges.
Open the cover. The inner cover is in the center and need to be flipped up.
Good luck.

Cannon mp830 error code 6500

Hi there,

The 6500 error code is a logic board error code. The PCI Bus error is detected by the ASCI. Sounds like it needs new logic board. but i suggest you to first of all you can try to reset your printer -

1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).
2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer.
3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in.
4. Turn the printer back on. If this works you're done, if not try the next step.

1. After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the paper output tray.
2. Open the top cover and wait until the print head moves to the center.
3. Open the inner cover and check that ink tanks are properly seated.
4. Properly seated
5. Press down on each ink tank until a click is heard.
6. Close the inner cover and top cover

if reset method not works for you then you go for the new logic board replacement .............

Good Luck!!

When attempting to print, I receive an error message which states "Inner conver is open. Close the inner cover and press OK". However, the inner cover is closed...? I have opened and closed...

Are you looking at the canon error window picture that show up on your monitor: It is the front inner flap you see after you open up the two top "covers". I forgot I opened this one looking for a paper jam. The printer cartridges would not even move to the front with this flap opened. After I closed the inner flap it all works (after opening and closing the top two "covers" many times!
