What is the connection type of your keyboard? If it has a usb connector, simply plug in the usb cable to one of your usb ports on your computer, wait for few seconds, your computer will automatically install it and you'll be able to use it without any problem. Click HERE to see what a usb connector looks like.

But if it's a Ps2 (click HERE for details) type, the connect it before you turn on your computer, otherwise it won't work if you connect it while the computer is On.

You don't need any additional adapters or extra hardware to connect a keyboard, but if in case your computer doesn't has any one of the ports, you might have problem connecting it (which isn't possible with the available computers)

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck..

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hello there, Mostly, you need nothing to connect it to your pc, just push usb/ps2 in your pc.
Otherwise, some multimedia or gamers keyboards need to install cd with drivers (which came with drivers), so you can use all additional multimedia keys.

Have a Gateway M285e laptop that the letter 'e' on the keyboard doesn't function. Will cleaning the keyboard resolve this issue? Thanks

It is possible that there is something sticky keeping the "e" key form working. Removing the key and cleaning around it carefully with alcohol or alcohol water 50/50 or 100% mix might free it up. Use Que-tips or something like that. try to clean around it first. If that does not work try gently lifting up on the key with a small screw driver or knife. You may hear a small pop. this could go either way for you good or bad, so be car full. then try cleaning around the spot ware the key was, gently replace the key.
You may also consider plugging in a cheep $10.00 key board and see if this works. I spilled a large drink in min and needed to use an auxiliary key board until I replaced the computer.

I'm lock out my computer it say key board error

I would check the connection on the back of your pc making sure the keyboard is pluggged in correctly. (If it is a usb connection, change to another port) If after checking the plug and it is correct, you may need to replace the keyboard all together.

Good Luck

When typing or using the back space key the letter a keeps coming up and I have to constantly delete from the words I'm typing?

we have to make sure if this is an issue with the key board or if it is with the software, it is very simple, all you need to do is, just plug an external key board (USB type) and try using it, if you do not have any issue with the external key board the you just need to replace the key board of your laptop.
If you are having the same issue or something similar to the current issue, it is evident that you have some kind of virus in the computer. have your system scanned with an antivirus software.

Hope this helps.

The rubber plug below the spacebar button is faulty. The button needs to be removed gently and the rubber plug below it which touches the board below should be cleaned. If this does not solve the issue the rubber plug below the button needs to be replaced. Its a common problem.

thanks and please do not forget to rate the solution.keep updated.

Problem with PCI UsB Card

Maybe it's usb2 and your motherboard is only good for usb1, or something like that. Have someone try the board in another computer. If there are any boards your computer doesn't need anymore, like a modem or something, take them out. That will free up addresses and you won't have conflicts. Remember, your usb will replace a lot of serial and parallel stuff.

I have one intel 845gvsr board for repair. The board is dead. When RAM is removed it gives memory error beeb i.e. 3 long beeps, but RAM is ok & cpu is also ok. When is installed the board does nothing. No...

Hi there
Three Long Beeps = Keyboard/Keyboard card error
An error with the keyboard can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
  1. Keyboard is not connected properly.
  2. Stuck key
  3. Bad keyboard
  4. Bad PS/2 or AT port
Solution:Keyboard is not connected properly
Verify that the keyboard is connected properly to the computer by turning off your computer and then disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard to the computer.

Stuck key

Ensure that there are no stuck keys on the keyboard. If all keys appear to be ok and you have a standard desktop computer with keyboard, attempt to turn keyboard over and gently hit the back of the keyboard to loosen any dirt or hair that may be stuck in the keyboard.

Bad keyboard

Try another keyboard on the computer to verify that the keyboard has not gone bad.
Bad PS/2 or AT port
If all of the above solutions are not able to resolve your issue it is likely that the port on the back of the computer may be bad and the motherboard or I/O board may need to be replaced.

Good luck and kind regards

Can't get wireless connection on new computer.

It's a DI-524 (Dee-eye). You created the network key, which is a fine thing. If you've lost track of it, you'll have to reset it to something else -- and then program both of your computers to connect with the new key.

You can probably get to the router here:
If you can log in, you can then click Wireless. Click WPA-PSK.
Pick a passphrase. You can use a sentence, even, something easy to remember, something easy to play with. Write it down and TAPE IT TO THE ROUTER, not over ventilation holes, so you never lose it again.
A good passphrase might be something that includes punctuation and isn't a common expression. You get 63 characters. Something like this might work, to give you an idea:
I hate that I lost the password, but life goes on.
Type it twice, carefully.

Then you'll have to tell both the previously working computer the password, as well as the new one.

And -write that down-. It's not the worst idea to put type everything useful (that address, your administration username and password, and your wireless password) into a Wordpad document, make the type very small, and print that, cut it out and tape it, being sure not to block any air holes.

Try tapping the FN+F5 keys twice, or try FN+F3 keys for acer laptops. MAke sure that cables are connected tightly at both ends.

Hope this helps
