Try cycling it in energy efficient mode with the heater off.. seems like you are melting something since it only happens to plastic containers.. Also, check and clean anything that remains in your drain filter...Hope that helps...

Gasket cleaning: Start by noting where angled ends of thick black gasket sit. Pull gasket out of stainless steel gutter. Soak and scrub with dishsoap in the sink. Start by placing one angled end as noted earlier. Press gasket firmly back into gutter.

Gel Dishwasher Detergent

Allbrands does not recommend gel detergents
Gels typically contain bleach - primarily chlorine bleach - which causes rubber seals to break down and leak.
  1. Gels often leave a whitish or cloudy film on glassware.
  2. Gels tend to stick to the inside surface of the dishwasher, never really being rinsed off.
  3. Gels are intentionally thick so that they stick inside the soap cup and don't run immediately into the bottom of the dishwasher. Therefore, they leave a sticky residue inside the soap dispenser, actually cause it to clog and not open during the timed sequence.
  4. Gels are not effective in hard water - and almost always leave spots.

My dishwasher is leaving a thick flaky residue on all my dishes and we use a rinse agent on nearly the max setting. The Heating element doesn't work.

The scum, film and white residue problems have started since the reduction of phosphates in dishwasher detergents.

Here is a tip that will help you to solve the problem of films, residue, and scum in your dishwasher.

I have a 1E error code. Water supply is good to the machine. Not sure how to get to the filters. Don't want to break anything.

Ok found the filter in the front of machine, lower left hand corner. It was clean. Proceeded to remove front panel. But first turn of the power and I also turned of the water. Now I found that the wires from the wiring harness had imbedded themselves in the sound profing material. Its like a black thick tar. I guess during the drying cycle the tar heats up and the wires settle into the goo. As the door is opened and closed the wires are put under stress because they are now one with the door. I found a blue wire had broken. I soldered the wire and taped it. I also put waxed paper behind the wires to keep them from hooking up to the tar again. I will check that fix after a couple of months to see how the paper is faring. The machine works perfectly once again.

Model 665 16874

removed and disassembled inlet water valve - minature basket filter was clogged with white particulate which felt gritty.  cleaned and reassembled and reinstalled.  Works fine now.  Idiot repairman never mentioned a filter but wanted to replace entire valve at cost of 140 dollars including service call.   sears sux bigtime. And, from my experience with Fixya, so does your service since I never heard a thing since July EXCEPT for an offer to upgrade.  Thanks for nothing.

Dishwasher won't drain all the way

After cleaning the air gap thingy my machine works fine again. This thing sits on the left lower back side of the machine (left when you are standing in front of the machine). It is a transparent plastic box with 3 hoses attached (drain hose from pump, drain hose to the outside and water). Inside the box is a black plastic float. If debris gets caught in there the float gets stuck.
Solution is to remove the part by pulling the 2 drain hoses out (there is a small black clip holding them in) and unclamp and remove the water hose. Rinse and shake the housing until the float moves freely again and reassemble.
