Question about Garden

Briggs 19hp intek v twin surging at idle not much better at full throttle. totally cleaned carb, new plugs with good spark, new fuel filter and pump works fine. if throttled up and down a few times it will sometimes straighten out and run excellent for a few minutes then go back to same problem. still the carb, or governor, or oil pressure problem?

Hi, probably still the carby as running lean is the cause of your problem. Also check the valve clearances as a tight inlet valve can give similar symptoms. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

Engine is surging when in idle

Sounds like the low speed idle circuit is clogged or the inlet needle tip is clogged in the carb. About the only way to clean these is disassembly.

21hp intek v-twin runs only with choke on full

You are not getting enough fuel.... by choking it you are enriching the mixture with less air , more fuel. Some where in the fuel system or carbureator something is still plugged.Or the mixture screw is too far in.

I have a briggs 20 hp intek , it run about 15 or 20 minutes and shuts down. i've cleaned the carb replaced filter and fuel line and replaced both coils . what is making my filter run dry?

Believe it or not, I had this same thing happening on our L120 John Deere. Turned out to be a plugged gas cap vent! At first I couldn't believe it but i resolved it with my air compressor. Now I always make sure the vent is clean and have had no problems since.

My Sears riding mower chokes itself out after warmed up,

Careful with the high octane.. That can burn a hole in the piston..

It might be fludding.. At the bottom of the carb should be a bowl.. One bolt at the bottom.. Take it off and clean it.. Spray some carb cleaner up in there where the float is..

If that dont do it --

Maybe the float is bad & taking in fluid..

If it has sat for long piriods of time - the carb might need to be cleaned & rebuilt..

When gass sits in there for a long time it shalacks and wont work correctly..

Pop off the carb & take to your local small eng shop. Shouldnt cost to much..

Honda IZY engine hunts. I mean the speed pulses rhythmically!

Just adjust the idle speed control/Fuel air screw located pointing downward on the bowl of the carb,Just start the engine, idle up high and turn the screw until it levels out and runs smooth.
