- I have had the same problem, err 99 started appearing on my 1000d 3 weeks after purchase, occurs after taking a photo. Seems to be related to writing to the SD card, as I have swapped lens, battery packs, SD cards. Doesn't fail if the SD card is removed. Can temporarily fix the problem by removing and reinserting the battery, works until the next time the camera is switched off. Sent the camera back to Canon for repair, they replaced the main PCB, but the camera came back with the same fault......not sure what to do next as my retailer is being awkward and refusing to refund my money.- PhilipHDec 11, 2008

Error 99 is shutter error. Best solution is to replace it ASAP if the camera is still under warranty. We go through many replacement of shutters for many Digital Rebel series. There is no simple answer without replacing it to good shutter part. The problem will keep coming back. Out of warranty repair charges may run from $150 to $250 depending repair facility. -James.
