Question about Bissell Vacuums

1 Answer

I need to find the proper connections on my Bissell 3920-9. I had to completely disassemble it a couple of months ago. I then got sick and was away from the project for several weeks. During that time, family moved the items and lost my notes. I have all the parts now except the light bulb and I'm sure it is around somewhere, but not located. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

I went to the site. It is a good one, but doesn't show the wiring harness with the connections. I have it in several pieces which hook together and don't want to hook something up wrong and then burn the vacuum up. Thanks for your assistance. If you find the solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bobby,

Here is a website for a parts schematic for your vacuum: >>>><<<<

Copy and paste the entire address into your browser. This is the only one I could find with "zoom" so you could see how everything fits together.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

    Hey Bobby,

Found a Bissell repair manual which gives the motor wiring connections. This is for a ProHeat, but I believe Bissell's motors are hooked up the same way.

    Give this a try: >>>> <<<<

The motor section starts on page 10.

I tried the site: The details are quite different from mine, ie. mine doesn't have a ground wire coming off the motor. I find that strange, but it is what it is. I'll continue looking, but I'm scared I'll wind up just slapping it together, plugging it in and burning it to a crisp. Thank you GREATLY for all your assistance though. I give you four thumbs up for your effort. :) Bobby

I have a Bissell pet hair eraser model #3920. It's been working great until last night. I went to use it and the brush won't spin. It also smells like it's burning. I checked the belt and it looks fine,...

- Remove the access panel, which is on the bottom of the machine. There are 4 tabs to lift on the access panel to remove. Start with tab 1 then 2-4 tabs.
- Check the brush, and belt for any damage. Clean off any debris on the brush.
-The belt may not be broken but may show signs of wear. If belt is broken or shows signs of wear, replace belt.

Bissell healthy home vacuum will not turn on. I have checked everything on the vacuum. All the filters are clean and there are no clogs. I have had it for 10 months with no issues until now.

- The handle may not be installed properly, causing a loss in the power connection. Remove the handle completely. Slide the handle back into place on the lower section of handle and tighten the screw.

Brush will not spin any longer

If the brush won't spin at all, it's either the drive belt or the roller beater brush is clogged. Pet hair can quickly clog a vacuum. Turn the unit over and see if the brush will rotate by hand. If yes, it's probably the belt. Also look for debris and clear as much out as possible. You may have to remove the bottom plate and clean the bottom of the unit out. If you do have to go that far, it would be best to replace the drive belt and thoroughly clean the vacuum.
