SOURCE: front load washer

Hitchhiker, you don't have to remove the front of the washer. The original boot was glued in areas around the door. They came out with a new design because of water leakage on the bottom. The new kit, part number 5303937187 comes with a spring that holds it on to the panel. You can do one or two things, if you don't have the leaking problem, glue the boot back on. Or you can order the new kit, it comes with instructions and replace the whole boot. Check it out, it might be covered under service flash #26-758BR. In any event this job can be done by leaning the washer back against the wall to make room between the tub and front panel. You are going to need an assist, it's better with 2 people. SOURCE: Vibration problem with Frigidaire front load washer.

Can't tell you about your particular model, just some generalities:

Unless the shock actually failed from a defect, you might have broken or damaged something else. Check especially for wires or other parts pinched between the tub and other parts or the housing. Also, make sure the tub shaft hasn't broken or worn the seal at the rear or the seal at the front. If this unit has ballasts one of them may have broken or broken loose to cause the shock to break. I had one similar with that problem. Might want to take the ballasts off the tub or brace it to keep from stressing the bearing and seals. Mine had three ballasts, one large cast iron one on top of the tub and two concrete ones either side. One of the concrete ballasts broke and the tub vibrated and pinched wires and damaged seals and was totaled. If nothing but the shock is broke, it's probably worth repairing. However, the other shocks also have the same amount of wear, check them carefully first. Also, check the seals while you're in there. Use a digital camera and take pictures of everything before you take it apart and be very careful with wire routing. Most parts are held with (probably) metric and Phillips. Always unplug it to work on it and plug it into a ground-fault protected circuit. Best to set the machine up to run then plug it in remotely if possible.

SOURCE: removing front panel from kenmore elite HE-3 front load washer?

If you've removed the screws and the panel sticks, tapping on each side will knock it loose. The panel should drop down, then off. You can also try propping the two front feet of the washer up slightly for better access. A 2x4 works real well. This will allow more room for the panel to drop and gives better access to the screws. The washer is very heavy, so you may need some assistance to lift the front. Either lift from the bottom, or place your hands on the front facing of the cabinet to push the washer back. DO NOT push on the door or control panel.

If you still need assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Why does my frigidaire front loader washer makes grinding noise

LOUD NOISES IN washing MACHINE;

LOT OF THINGS TO CHECK, THE BELT LOOSE OR WORN, THE CLUTCH, THE TRANNY, THE BEARINGS BOTH TUB SEAL AND BEARING, THE REAR DRUM BEARING, the balance or counter weights.

THE DRIVE PULLEY- If the washer is making a loud noise the drive pulley might be worn out, cracked, loose or bent. Remove the drive pulley and inspect it carefully. If it is damaged or defective replace it.
THE TRANSMISSION, THE MOTOR COUPLER, THE MOTOR DRIVE BEARINGS,
THE DRIVE MOTOR- If the washer is making a loud noise the drive motor bearings may have worn out. Washer motors are normally almost silent when they run. If the motor is run without a belt hooked up to it and it's loud it will have to be replaced.

The drive coupling connects the motor to the transmission and consists of two plastic drive forks with a rubber coupling between them. One of the drive forks is attached to the drive motor shaft and the other is attached to the transmission input shaft. As the motor shaft rotates, the rubber coupling between the drive forks absorbs the torque to prevent the forks from breaking. Normal use will create wear on the coupling and eventually the drive forks may slip and cause a vibrating noise. If the transmission seizes or if the spin basket cannot turn freely, then the coupling may fail and again you may experience a vibrating noise. Most models will require you to remove the cabinet to access the drive coupler. Disconnect power from the appliance before attempting any repairs.

A worn drive block will usually have a pounding sound, like hammering metal, during spin when it first starts. If there is enough interlocking tab left on the drive block, you'll see it finally engage at top speed with an empty basket.

In a transmission lock up the holes get enlarged in the rubber isolator and the studs break off the motor and transmission couplers. This is usually caused by the abrupt motor reversal between the agitate and pump out functions. If you hear a loud bang every time the motor reverses, the coupler is getting loose. An obvious sign of a failed coupler is a pile of black rubber shavings under the washer. If the motor runs and the agitate and spin functions don't work, the studs may have broken off the coupler (old coupler design) or the coupler may have broken at the shaft (new design) and you need a new coupler kit. The coupler can also just crack around its center hole allowing it to slip on the motor or transmission shaft hampering those functions.

If the washer is making a loud noise the drain pump might be going bad or might have something caught in it. Remove the drain pump from the washer and inspect it carefully. Look for anything that might be caught in it, a piece of wire, plastic, etc. If nothing is wrong with the pump, but it's still noisy it will have to be replaced.

Front load washers often use a self contained electric drain pump and the motor may be worn or damaged and require the complete pump to be replaced. Remove any foreign objects or replace the worn or damaged pump, thencarefully tighten the hose clamps and check for leaks before installing the cabinet or front panel.

All front-load washing machines have shock absorbers that are used to dampen the tub movement in the spin cycle. The shock absorbers or struts are attached to the base frame and to the outer tub and you will need to remove the front panel or the rear panel to access them. When shock absorbers weaken or become damaged, the machine will often make a loud banging sound during the spin cycle and if the symptom is not corrected, can lead to damage of other components. Inspect the shocks for signs of broken attachments, leaked fluids or a weakened dampening action and replace both shocks if worn. Remove power from the appliance before attempting this repair.

Some models of top-load washers use tub dampening straps to cushion the movement of the tub during the spin cycle. There are four straps attached to the top of the tub and to each corner of the cabinet

Also There are four suspension rods that suspend the tub and allow the tub to free float. If the suspension rods are noisy, there will be a squeaking noise during wash. You can fix this by putting bearing (lithium base) grease in the cup that each rod rests in. If it continues to squeal replace all four rods the cups come with the rods, replace them as well.

If your washer has a loud banging noise during spin the balance weight may be loose. This weight is to counter act the weight of the motor so you will find the weight directly behind the motor. Sometimes simply tightening the bolts will fix your issue but if the bolts are stripped out get some bolts slightly longer than the original bolt to allow you to put a locking nut on the bottom side of the mounting plate. If the weight is broken replace it.

Lastly Washer vibration can be caused by a broken counter balance spring. Ur washer may be equipped with one or more counter balance springs which help to absorb the natural movement of the spinning tub. If a counter balance spring fails the tub might lean in one direction more than another and it will shake and cause vibration.
By the way my advice is free cuz God is good!

GRINDING NOISES:

The plastic drive is known as a splutch (splined clutch). One problem with these washers has been loosening of the nut that locks the pulley to the agitator input shaft. If it gets loose, the pulley drops and the teeth no longer have good contact with the teeth of the splutch basket drive gear in spin mode. The solution is application of blue locktite to the threads of the input shaft. There have also been a lot of failures of the actuator that operates the cam ring of the splutch which raises and lowers the basket drive gear. It is raised for agitate mode and lowered for spin. There is a spring between the basket drive gear and the gearcase housing that maintains pressure on the basket drive gear. There are cams on the cam ring that ride up and down on cams in the splutch cam (housing) as it is rotated by the actuator thus raising and lowering the basket drive gear. The gearcase has a planetary gear set in it.

The washer tub bearing may be defective, but that is the only thing that I can think of. Are you noticing this on all loads or just heavy items like bath towels and jeans? Are you redistributing the clothes before the final spin, try that. Also do not overload the washer, wash to medium loads instead of one full to the top load. Wastes water but saves on repairs.

Tub is loose

Hello Rob - Try rotating the drum manually when it is turned. If you notice that the drum is not balanced and cannot rotate freely, I would suggest contacting a professional so they can move forward accurately. Washer may possibly have a faulty bearing, unbalance drum or pulley issue.

What does it mean when it saids E20

Not draining properly. Remove the lower panel under the door so you can access the drain pump which is located right in front, there's a black hose coming from the tub down to the pump, loosen the ring clap at the top of the hose and pull out the coin filter and clean it out. When you loose that ring clap water will start coming out so keep some towels around.

You cannot remove the baffles without disassembling the entire tub assemblys.
To access the inside of the washer cabinet remove the two or three phillips head screws at the bottom of the front of the washer and the lower panel below the door will come off to give you access.
If your ring is anywhere it is probably caught inside the lint/debris trap #40 on the diagram. You will want to remove the entire rubber drain boot that connects between the pump and the bottom of the outer tub. Also try to reach inside the tub with your hand through the hole where the rubber drain boot connected if you do not find it in the lint trap.

I would not recommend anyone other than a skilled technician attempt to disassemble the wash tubs on this machine.
Good luck to you on this!!

My frigidaire washer will not spin, why

You will need to check the door switch you should have 1500 ohms no less than 1400. To check remove wire ring from door seal carefully peal rubber seal off flange. The remove 2 screws holding switch and carefully take out. Check with ohmeter. This is a fairly common problem with that model. For the lowest price on parts go to www.appliancehelponline.com

How to reinstall rubber ring between door frame and washer tub on a whirlpool duet washer

The rubber ring is called the "bellow". The following link explains the steps necessary to install one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385211-replacing_door_bellow_whirlpool_duet

Make sure you inspect the bellow to ensure it has no leaks or tears, first. Re-installing a damaged bellow will only result in a leaky washer.

If its only the front bellow clamp that needs to be re-installed, skip down to step 12. If the rear clamp has come loose where it attaches to the front of the wash tub, then you will have to follow all the steps that require you to remove the front panel. It may sound intimidating, but its an easy repair if you follow the steps provided.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Gasket came loose and rapped around laundry-tub seems loose

if your metal ring (clamp) came off it is most likely due to you shocks or the spring at the top are worn out and need to be replaced. this will happen more often if the cycles are off balance or the washer is over loaded

Speed Queen Top Loader heavy duty washer

First unplug the machine, now take off the front panel, two screws at the bottom of the front panel, front panel swings up and off.

check to make sure the six springs are still in place.

Under the tub is bearing housing between the tub and base usually white in color, under this is a plastic ring, does it seem to float easily when you move the tub. it could be broken. Also look around for loose or missing screws.

If all seems fine, make sure you have all four rubber feet on, level machine, in the front first side to side, then pull machine toward you to bring rear legs off floor, these are self leveling, have someone assist and make sure they are not stuck, use a pliers and break loose if they are. So with the machine on its front feet and the back feet off the ground set the machine down on all four feet check level front to back adjust as needed on the front legs. You should reset rear legs as you adjust the front. now with machine level tight the nut between the front legs and the base locking them.

This should help, if machine still shakes it could be the balance ring, has lost if solution its filled with a salt water solution, the hard part is you need to find it under the tub cover. we will go into the detail if we need to. ask more questions later
