Is the 4A912B Dayton 10" 1 HP bench grinder 3 phase or 1 phase?

If the plug on the cord has 2 flat prongs and one round one then its 110 VAC single phase. If the motor has 4 wires then I'd suspect 3 phase. The data plate on the motor will tell you for sure.

How many seconds of grind for standard drip grind

I've long ago lost the manual that came with my grinder (I actually don't remember if it even had one), but I don't think it listed grinding times. You just grind a few seconds and check, then grind a little more if it's still too coarse. Unlike a burr grinder which is adjustable, in a blade grinder the same grind time may result in different consistencies as you change beans. By now I've just learned how long to hold the button for the different beans I buy, and the first few times I try a new blend or varietal I have to adjust the time. I think you'll just need to experiment and then you'll know what works best for your tastes.

as for slowing it down, no problem. Hook it to a cord with a dimmer switch connected to it. Make sure your running with the same power rating though. As for a dripper, no ideas just yet.

Need part numbers to replace eyeshields on Dayton bench grinder

Your grinder is listed on page 3085 of the Grainger catalogue. The part number for the eyeshield is 00281.00 and the number for the lower eyeshield bracket is 00280.00. The right hand upper eyeshield bracket is number 25188.00 and the upper left hand bracket number is 25177.00. All of this can be ordered through Grainger at 1-800-323-0620. Marvin T.

Bench grinder, 110/220?? wired up properly according to diagram on grinder, just turns on as soon as it's plugged in but it just humms, it does not spin the grinding wheel.it is a monster w/ a 3/4 hp...

LIKELY the capacitor which is usually in the base is bad.

The capacitor shifts the phase angle in one of the two windings which creates a pseudo rotating field to start rotation.
