The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it. There is a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak. Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the washer also. Check there as well.

The water leak is from the white tub cover on top of the tub. The seal needs replaced.

The oil is from the transmission.

I honestly would replace the washer.

There is water leaking out of the bottom of the washing machine

I would check to see if the pump is leaking. Tilt the washer up and put on two peices of 2x4. Shine a trouble lite under washer and take a mirror to look under the washer. Fill 1/2 full of water and advance timer to the spin cycle. Observe to see where the water is comming from. The pump is located at the front of the washer.
If water is leaking from the pump. Replace pump.

WATER LEAKING FROM BOTTOM OF WASHER

Hi,
Check the seal between the top plastic cap and the outer tub. There are 6-8 clips that secure the cap to the tub. My washer would leak water when full and start spinning. I found the seal split in two.

Water leaking on the floor while filling

Open the back of the washer. Start the fill cycle and observe where the water is leaking from. You are not going to get a full view of the entire tub by only opening the lower front access.

GE Top load washer.

Hello rschneeweis
Welcome,

Sounds like a seal or drain hose is leaking or the clamp on a hose has vibrated loose.

Water leaking out the bottom of the machine when washing machine begins agitation cycle. If the machine is turned off the water stops leaking even with the tub full of water.

Let me know if you found it and how you do.
