Question about Olympus ? 1030SW Digital Camera

1 Answer

My camera tends to just shut down. I'm thinking it's overheating possibly? Removing battery does not reset. Very unpredictable and of course, it goes without saying, frustrating. Is there a way to correct this or is it just a problem with the camera and we having to live with it?

If the camera just shuts down without warning the problem most probably is the battery. Often times devices such as cameras lose contact with their points for the battery and at that point since there is no power to the system the system automatically shuts down. Check how well the battery sits inside the unit if it has room for shaking and probably loss of contact try getting something to support it so as to ensure proper contact. If. This does not work then component inside the units board is bad and the unit needs to be opened and examined.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Went to using my camera and all it does is beep and shuts down I have use cheaper battery's So i bought the Energizer Rechargeable Alkaline/Ni-mh and still nothing

Could be that your batteries do not have enough mAH? They should be at least 2600mAH. Any thing less than that tends to not have enough power to keep your camera on. I've used rechargeable batteries in the range of 1200mAH and they would not keep the camera on for more than a few seconds.
Try a hard reset by holding the power button down and removing the batteries at the same time, still holding the power button down go back and insert the batteries, it should reset it self in most cases? Another possible problem your camera might have is a stuck barrel lens, if it was dropped or has some sand in the lens gears, that could also make it shut down immediately.

Computer won't turn on

try removing the battery and see if it runs on mains power, if so you need a new battery. another possibility is that the system has overheated, although you would normally expect it to start up once it has cooled down, unless it has done irrepairable damage!

My DMC-FZ20 turns on but has no image in viewfinder or screen.

I never experienced anything like that with my old FZ20 but with experiences in other cameras I've found a nice, easy way of fixing things tends to be a "hard reboot" I think it's called. Turn the camera on, then remove the battery while it's still on causing the camera to shut down due to power failure. Put the battery back in and IME, all should be well.

If not graphics card problem, you are looking at a motherboard error. Try removing the bios battery for 5 mins, replacing and resetting the cmos settings to default, if that works, I'd consider thinking about a new mobo sooner or later.

If this does not work, motherboard possibly failing

My acer aspire 5315 shuts off suddenly and won't restart till it wants to. I replaced the battery, no difference....what's wrong?

This could be a sign that your laptop is overheating. If you touch the laptop while it is running & you find it too hot, make sure that the fan is running properly & that the air ways are not blocked.
You can blow compressed air into the cooling vents of the fan. If you notice clouds of dust coming out, then it might be a good idea to disassemble the laptop, clean the fan & air ways, & reassemble it back. If the fan has failed & is no longer running, it might need to be replaced

Hi,

The reason for the sudden shut down of your computer is because of overheating of the 'case', where the CPU is mounted. Overheating can be due to dust accumulation on the heat sink, which prevents dissipation of heat. The possible solution to combat overheating issue is to keep the laptop dust free by cleaning out debris at the vents frequently. Note that a laptop has a much smaller cooling area in comparison with desktops and hence laptops tend to accumulate dust a lot quicker than desktops. This is because all the dust/debris, in the case of laptops, accumulate in the cooling fins.

Battery change

The battery is built into the photo pack and cannot be replaced separately. All Polaroid photo packs are now long out of date and most have flat batteries so are useless unless the camera is converted to accept an external 6v dc power supply.

Alternatively check out The Impossible Project for compatible alternative photo packs: monochrome only, just eight shots per pack and the images are unpredictable and tend to fade rapidly, but they're the only other choice if you don't want to convert your camera.

I pulled the batteries out of the camera before it had completely shut down. now it doesn't work at all. What do I do

If you waited for a long time after removing the batteries then batteries may be complitely shut down. Waited batteries always do that. Use new ones. If the old batteries rechargable then you should charge them again.
