Question about JVC Silver DVD Digital Theater System - THC7 System

1 Answer

I have a JVC digital cinema system ]TH-A75R which will only switch on when "cold". That is : switch on, insert a DVD and it plays OK, but if switched off ( to standby or at the mains ), will not switch back on unless it is left for a very long time ( hours ). Once allowed to get "cold' it will operate correctly. Should the cooling fan run continuously or is it on a sensor to only run when the amp is working high ? I have only operated the system with low output sound and don't believe the cooling fan runs.

The cooling fan should run at all times. Check for dust or any blockage to the fan. If clear then try spinning the fan with a piece of plastic or something to see if once the fan is rotating it continues to spin.

Thank you andys elec for info that fan should run continuously. Further check identifies there is no supply to the 12Vdc fan. Fan runs OK on an external dc source. Back-feeding 12Vdc from external psu onto u/s output terminals and running fan does NOT cure problem. The internal self-check appears NOT to measured 12Vdc output to fan. The multi-speaker amp/output board carries at least 3, 12Vdc relays, but this board obstructs access to the 12Vdc fan-supply on the power board. Any other suggestions ... possibly small lump hammer ?

I think the only way you're going to solve this is by removing the amp/output board and checking the fan board.

No "red light" on Digital In

The port on the jvc is probably an input, which does not produce light. Only optical outputs will have the red light in them.

I have a (jvc dvd digital cinema system th-s3). that will not play original dvds however it seems to play copies and cds just fine in fact all other functions work correctly. i have tried a lens cleaning...

I have the same system. I've had no trouble until a year ago, then the system got particular about when it wanted to play DVDs. I've also used lens cleaner to no avail. It plays some DVD's but plays all CD's and some copies. It has given me good service but cost me a lot of money. I hope there is a simple solution to this.

We have JVC DVD Digital Cinema System Model TH-A9. We enjoy elethe set and have many hours per day playing with the DVD music as well as the movies. Suddenly, our powered sub-woofer Model SP-PWA9 fails to...

It sounds to me that the sub has blown a fuse. This could be caused by a faulty amp. Subwoofers are at the end of the day are just a mono amp. If the main amp in it shorts, it will blow the fuse.
A visual test might be all that is needed, plus your nose if it has fried the part!

When you insert a dvd it says PAL DISK

PAL is the format of the dvd and there are two main formats for a dvd and they are PAL or NTSC. The NTSC format is mostly used for the United States, and the PAL format is used more in Europe and Asia. An older dvd player will have the format options in the setup menu for the dvd player, and from the setup menu on the tv screen the dvd player can be set to play the PAL dvd's. However if that is not the problem and the dvd player no longer can tell a PAL from a NTSC format then the dvd player either needs a serious lens cleaning or it has a malfunction. Also, the back of the cover for the dvd should say if it is PAL or NTSC.

JVC tha75 r where is laser eye bit so i can clean it?

claire_unbre:

When you say laser eye, are you referring to the laser used to read your cd's & dvd's? if so, you can find dvd cleaners at most retail stores. the kit will contain a disc that looks like a dvd with built-in brush & cleaning solution. follow the instructions on the cleaning kit & you should be OK. reply if you need additional assistance.

peace-out

Tempremental playing dvds

In response to your jvc-a75r DVD player, sometimes the solution might be less complex than it may appear. Had the same problem with my Samsung s321,the machine refused to read DVD's but would play CD's no problem. Simply opened up the cover(usually)4-6 small screws, and found my dog's hair inside of the player covering the laser eye.Electrostatic ionization attracts dust, etc. into the player remarkably well sometimes. Carefully used a cotton swap to remove debri. PLayerworked fine afterwards ...Good luck!
