Tips for an organized kitchen
As we probably all would rather a clean, organized kitchen rather than a chaotic one, here are some tips that i found very useful for my own kitchen.
Some i kind of gave for garanted, others were actually more useful and creative, but i included them all anyway. Hope you find this tip useful.
First thing, i realized that by hanging all that is hang-able i saved a lot of space and at the same time decorated my kitchen. I started hanging colorful cloths, aperones, mats, pot-holders, match boxes, ladles, all in strategic places, where i knew i would need these objects. But at the same time i saved lots of room in drawers and closets. I even found a way to hang small hooks inside my pots closet, and hang there my pots lids. They now happily hover over their other halves, without taking away any useful space.
Another interesting idea that i found online is to place all the objects that leak or that need frequent cleaning, on a Lazy Susan. This method provides at the same time a surface easy to clean, and a gathering location for all the jars and bottles like honey, salt and pepper, jams, oil etc
There are two ways of storing objects. Be it ingredients or tools, pots and pans or plates, they need to be stored in a smart way.
One option is storing according to type. Grouping similar objects.
All canned food together. All pasta, rice and grains together. Plates, bowls and cups together. Pots and pans etc. This way you will know exactly where to look for something you need and be sure to find it according to logic. This method is very good for big kitchens, with lots of storage space.
Another option is to store according to need. This can either be the main method or it can be added to the previous storing method. It allows you to make sure that all the objects or ingredients that you use the most are easy to find and reach. For example all the sweet ingredients or everything you need for decorating desserts could be stored in a cabinet on the side, while sugar and flour could be stored in a central cabinet, easy to reach, together with salt and oil for example.
Another important thing is storing in good locations. For example plastic bags and wrapping materials should be stored near the fridge, to enable a quick storage of leftovers. Or pots and pans, as well as utensils, should be close to the stove. Kitchen cloths near the sink, etc.
Small objects often cause clutter and chaos in open spaces. Use pretty rattan baskets to keep small objects well organized, and improve the looks of your kitchen.
Using carts can be useful and pretty at the same time. By using a nice cart you can both easily and prettily deliver foods to the table, and also carry heavy objects from place to place without effort.
