Check your filter, pump, and debris baskets for excessive waste that could decrease the pool cleaners water flow. Check the hoses, hose connections, and swivels for leaks that could cause loss of water pressure. Check your wheel RPM. If it is below 30, you will need to incease the water pressure. If you have an adjustable return valve, make sure it is open all the way. Also, make sure that your pump is working properly.

The pump motor is running at the pool equipment but the 3900 does not move. The small filter is clear. the bag is clean. Do i need to do something in the line?

If you have an adjustable return valve, make sure that it is completely open. If it is partially closed, your cleaner will not be getting enought water pressure. Also, check to make sure that the blue restrictor plate is not installed in your return line. If it is, remove it and the pool cleaner should get adequate pressure.

All wheels on 3900 do not turn together. How do I fix this.

The first step that you should take if your pool cleaners wheels are not turning correctly is to check the wheel RPM. It should be between 30 and 36. If it is lower than 30, open the adjustable valve (if you have one) on your return line to allow more water flow. Also, make sure that your filter, skimmer, and hoses are clear of debris and do not have any leaks or cracks that could change your suction and lower wheel RPM. Finally, you can remove the blue restrictor disk from the UWF.You might also need to adjust your thrust jet if it is causing the cleaner to move more quickly on one side.

My polaris is doing circles. it appears the single wheel doesnt move like it used to

i've just discovered i have this same issue with my polaris 3900. the machine is less than 3 months old. there is a small metal "gear" in the wheel hub just behind the blue "hub cap". a single screw holds it on the axle. it appears that the gear has worn the out around the hub causing it to slip and not be able to drive the wheel.. it appears that the solution would be to buy another wheel.

Just installed my p 3900 about a month ago and it is not working (moving). the wheels are not moving at all. Filters have been changed, skimmers cleared and water flowing freely and still my 3900 is just...

I would check to make sure that the pool cleaners RPM is at at least 30. If it is lower than 30, you are not getting enough pressure to power the cleaner. If your RPM is between 30 and 36, and the cleaner has never moved since you got it, I think that something is probably installed incorrectly. Check all of your connections for leaks or cracks. If necessary, go over the entire assembly instructions and check it step by step. I bet you will find something slightly wrong or slightly off that is causing the lack of pressure.

My polaris 3900 back up valve is stuck most of the way into back up mode...not enough to back it up or move it forward. Can I fix it myself.

You will probably just need to replace the pool cleaners backup valve kit. Call the manufacturer or a local company who sells parts for the cleaners and find out if they have it. It will be part number G52.

I purchased a Polaris 3900 on 6/2/2010 and have already replaced two filter bags. Both times the bag has become wedged between the chasis and the wheels tearing the bags. Any suggestions?

First, make sure that the velcro closure on your pool cleaners bag is sealed tightly. If the velcro is coming lose, it could be the problem. Next, make sure that your wheels are operating at the proper RPM. Too little RPM could cause the pool cleaner to be sluggish and not create the proper tension to keep the bag floating. It should be between 30 and 36. If it is running at less than 30 RPM, there are few things that you can do to fix it. If an adjustable valve is installed on the cleaner line, open it completely so water can flow freely to the cleaner. Check the filter screen in the in-line filter
for debris that restricts water flow and clean if necessary. Also clean the skimmer, filter, and pump baskets. Check the hoses, connections and swivels for leaks that cause loss of water pressure. Finally, if none of these solutions work, remove the blue restrictor disk from the UFW.

Wheels are not turning. water is spraying from back up valve continually so not enough pressure to put machine into action

If the pool cleaner is not running properly (too slowly or not at all), you will want to check the following things. Make sure that your wheel RPM is not less than 30. If it is, you will need to adjust the wheel RPM to make the cleaner have enough power to move properly. First check your filter screen and the debris baskets in your pump, filter, and skimmer. They could have a blockage that is causing the loss of power. Next, if you have an adjustable valve on the cleaner line, open it completely so water can flow freely to the cleaner. If that does not work, remove the blue restrictor disk from the UWF. Also, check the hoses, hose connections, and swivels for leaks that could cause loss of water pressure. If you think that it is simply your backup valve that is malfunctioning, you might need to replace it. The backup valve kit is part number G52.

Where the filter screen / hose connection attaches to the wall of the pool there is a lot of water pressure coming out of the black cap.I have replaced with new ( very expensive ) but same problem is...

Make sure that the blue restrictor disk in in place to decrease water flow. That is a common problem with these pool cleaners. If that still isn't enough, you cleaner should have also come with a red restrictor disk that limits water flow even more. You could also try unscrewing the pressure valve to decrease RPMs and pressure.
