Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Mitsubishi WD-82738 has no picture, makes short whirring sounds but won't turn on. Flashes 6 red lights then 1 yellow light and repeats sequence. Tried system reset but to no avail, light turns green for 15 seconds but then goes back to flashing red and yellow light sequence. Menu will not display. I'll be having a service tech coming to check it out but curious if you have an idea of what the problem could be?

    the flashing lights give a error code; check again this flashing. the flashing red is the first number in the code. you said that it was flashing 6 times then you said yellow flashes once. i have consulted this model service manual and have not found a code 61 for this unit.

After rereading the symptoms you descibe what you describe might be a faulty colorwheel. When the set is first plug up there is a small mechanal motor that has to reach certain speed. if this does not reach that speed the set will not allow the lamp to fire. The whirring sound could be the colorwheel trying to spin up. these break all the time. (its a motor and anything that moves eventally will not.) it a fairly simple rep;air thatn most quilfied techs can repair. Such a repair generally should take more than a hour to do

My mitsubishi wd82738 starts normally green light flashes and then stays on,i get sound and blurred bars that are barely visible

Probably a lamp problem. They aren't very expensive and relatively easy to replace. If not the lamp, possibly the color wheel. If it makes a high pitched sound from time to time, it's definitely the color wheel. Good luck

These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Blinking code detail, and fault finding procedure to many brand TVs are given. Mitsubishi tv wd-82738 no power

Most of these TV's have switched mode power supllies that run very hot. There is a likely chance that the capacitors have cooked (burst) on the PSU board. They are common capacitors. Open up the TV and with the mains electricity turned off, check the 'X' on top of the tubular capacitors. If they are bulging, rather than flat, then unsolder them and replace them.

I've repaired many of these sets because of this problem.

Wd-60737 mitsubishi blinking yellow status light ?

Mitsubishi TV troubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
