HDMI is a high definition video/audio cable. It is used on newer tv's and surround sound receivers. You need to make sure that your TV supports HDMI before you can use it.

HDMI is high definition multimedia interface. You can't get high definition pictures from RCA cables. To view high definition you would need a dvd or some other source that has high definition connection. The picture in high definition is a lot more superior giving you the highest picture quality available today. There is also a blue tooth player which plays highest resolution in high definition.

HDMI&DVI ports already used on LG HDTV.I have X BOX 360 S,has a HDMI plug, can I use a HDMI splitter to plug in the X BOX in the DVI port ?receiving computer via HDMI now

You will not be able to split them, but they do make a HDMI Switcher, allowing you to use your Xbox 360 as number one and your PC as number 2, w you cannot mix both at the same time.

How to connect a denon avr-e400 receiver to a televion

If the DENON has an HDMI output, and your TV has an HDMI input, then use a HDMI cable. Then, use the TV's remote-control to select "source" (or "input") as 'HDMI 2' or 'HDMI 3' (assuming that you have been using 'HDMI 1' to watch TV).

You should be able to. You should be able to hook the HDMI cable into the tv, than go to "TV Input" and select "HDMI 1" "HDMI 2" or "HDMI 3" depending on which input you used

I want to connect my pc to an Samsung LCD hdmi-hdmi

HDMI and DVI are both digital signals, therefore if you used DVI - DVI it would be the same as HDMI - HDMI.
If you really want to use HDMI - HDMI you could purchase a DVI - HDMI adaptor for your graphics card. Contact your favorite computer store.

Take care!

HTMI errors on the following devices DVD Blue-ray HDMI connected; CD Not HDMI connected; VCR Not HDMI connected; satellite works OK HDMI to Yamaha - HDMI to TV NO HDMI error displayed; GUI does not display...

You have to use Component Video on this unit. HDMI will not "Handshake" and pass thru. This was HDMI's first version "1.1a" and there is no fix. Use your receiver to switch audio via Coaxial or optical then use HDMI directly from BLURAY etc to your TV. The downside to this is how many HDMI inputs your TV has. It's an awesome receiver! Don't blame Yamaha!!! This issue is directly attributable to "HDMI" and their race to shelves before truly field testing the product. The current version of HDMI is 1.3b and soon to be 1.4 which includes ethernet capabilities.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news! If you would like an "in depth" look into the world of HDMI issues, Google HDMI problems or HDMI forums, and you can read for hours. Hope this helps

What kind of connector do I use to connect a dell laptop to a Hitachi 42'' plasma display? HDMI to DVI or HDMI to VGA?

If the TV has a VGA connector then use a VGA to VGA cable from your laptop as most laptops have a VGA output. Otherwise use one of the other combinations that work HDMI to DVI or HDMI to HDMI..

Unable to play DTS-HD & True-HD

What do you hear? Do all other modes work ok?

If Audio Select (Page 44 and 98) is set to HDMI you will hear silence if no HDMI signal is present. I think AUTO is the best choice here.

-------

On Page 98 of the manual it says a bunch of things concerning automatic signal detection and input selection.

Initial configuration D) INIT. CONFIG
Use this feature to select the settings of the audio input jack select, active decoders and extended surround when you tum on this unit.
....

Audio select AUDIO SELECT
Use this feature to designate the default audio input jack select setting (see page 44) for the input sources connected to the DIGITAL INPUT jacks when you tum on the power of this unit.

HDMI set E)HDMI SET
Use this feature to select the component to play back HDMI audio signals.

Support audio S. Audio
Use this feature to select whether to play back HDMI audio signals on this unit or on another HDMI component connected to the HDMI OUT jack on the rear panel of this unit.
...

CHOICE = RX-V663

FUNCTION
Plays back HDMI audio signals on this unit. The HDMI audio signals input at the HDMI input jacks of this unit are not output to the HDMI component connected to the HDMI OUT jack on the rear panel of this unit.

CHOICE = OTHER
HDMI component connected to the HDMI OUT jack.

NOTES
This unit transmits audio and video signals input at the HDMI input jacks to the HDMI out jack only when this unit is turned on even if "S.AUDIO" is set to "OTHER".

I'd look in these areas for specific guidance.
