No hurt intended but look at what you said. I cut through the power cord. I've worked around construction most of my life and you don't have to be blonde to do cut a power cord. Sorry if I upset you it was not intentional.

It did and I thank You for it as I certainly did not intend to hurt your feelings. There is way to much of that without me adding to it. Thank ou and good luck. Frodo

My Black & Decker trimmer starts and stops whenever I move the trimmer in any direction -- any advise as to how to solve this problem?

I'm not familiar with your machine, BUT... that description of symptom sounds suspiciously like a bad/poor electrical connection.

The problem could be in many places:
  • plug
  • cord
  • switch
  • brushes
  • internal electrical wiring
The "solution" to this problem is for someone who knows what s/he is doing, to troubleshoot the defective machine, determine the defect, and properly repair or replace the defective part.

Hi Frank,
If you're lucky there might be just a break in the flex somewhere or a loose connection in the plug.

The only thing that i can think of is that somwhere along the length of the cable it has either atiny nick or it has been pulled so that when you hold it in a certain way it works . It is most likly near the tool end rather than the plug end.Only way to find it if it is is trial and error turn machien on and bend cable till it cuts out

My hedge trimmer blades do not move when I turn it on

Check the power wires that connect to the motor. My 18 inch B&D hedge trimmers both had loose wires at the motor that had to be re-soldered. You will need to open the trimmer casing to get to the loose wires, if that is the problem.

I cut through the cord by accident, can I buy a replacement wire?

If you are handy, you can do this. Most trimmers some with a very short cord to which you are expected to attach a extension cord. What exactly did you cut? If the short cord that may have come with it ... disassemble the body of the machine and reconnect a shorter (the one you cut) cord. If it was the extension, that is easy. New ends available ar your hardware store.

If there is a trick part,it is in reassembly. Pay attention to how it was configured when you took it apart.

hope this helps
