My shark is only 3 month old. Water runs from the floor attachment and when i press down the steam seems to be coming from the handle connection. Is there a way to see if there is blockage or a way to fix it. Loved it but, no good if it doesn't work

Shark s3601a no steam

Don't you have to push down on the handle while mopping the floor to get the steam to release. I know the one I have has a handle that slides down the shaft in forward mopping motion which releases the steam.

Shark Steam Pocket Mop Cleaning Problems

After watching Shark Steam Pocket Mop from the vantage point of Fixya.com for a few months and seeing the many problems that people were having with the Shark Steam Mop streaking their floors and especially hardwood or laminate flooring I decided to do some research and reading about this problem.

What I found was very interesting.

Many people are blaming the steam mop for their problems, when in fact the problem is just coming to light because of the use of the steam mop. It seems that if other cleaners have been used on the floors they leave behind a residue. Then you come along with this mop that produces a heated steam type cleaning and you start to take this residue off of the floors. This then leaves the flooring blotchy or streaking.

So now what do you do with you floors when you get this mop and what will cure your streaking, blotchy floors? There are a couple of ways....

First way is to just keep on using the mop. Many people report that their persistence has paid off and that after a few uses the shine comes back to their floor as the old scum and residue is more completely removed.

The second way is to use a vinegar and water solution to manually clean the flooring before using the mop. This takes a bit more elbow grease, but will get the floor looking really sharp much quicker. Here is a site that tells about that.

So if you are having a heart attack because your mop seems to be making things worse instead of better then don't give up too quickly!! Use it a few times first... it has a 1 year warranty. Or get on your knees with that pail of vinegar water and get the old gunk from all those other cleaners off of your floor first.

Dead shark in the water

Call them at 1-800-798-7398
Have the model number, the country it was made in and the date it was made. All found on sticker on bottom of unit. They are foreigners that answer the phone, so be prepared to spell everything. It takes 3 weeks to get the parts but I found them to be inexpensive.
