Question about Eureka C4910 Bagged Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

I purchased a Eureka C4910 last year and have a question that I am hoping you can answer. There are two motor actions with this vacuum, 1) the vacuum suction, and 2) the beater bar. The action of the beater bar is that motor is supposed to automatically shut off when the handle is in the complete vertical position assuming the vacuum is stationary, but then turn on when the handle is tilted toward the floor, assuming the vacuum is moving back and forth. The beater bar motor turn-on mechanism has stopped working. Do you know of a switch that can be replaced to restore this function? The motor itself works very well for suction, and the vacuum is very clean. It has only been used perhaps 10 times under low intensity residential conditions. I cannot see any clogs, and the beater bar belt looks brand new and can easily be moved back and forth by hand. It really seems as if an electrical switch somehow burned out and the vacuum makes no attempt to turn on the beater bar. Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Good day!

Normally when the motor is easily moved back and forth means that it have a proper lubrication,proper alignment and no clogs.

When the motor and the belt is OK the problem could be on electrical wiring and switch.

If found electrical switch burned out you need to replaced it because when the switch is burn the contact of that switch is open even you turn it ON.that's why the motor is not function because the voltage is not pass through the circuit because of open switch.You need to replaced it.
And check some fuses if any and other burned electrical wire.Replaced it also.

Thank you and don't forget to rate my answer.

Hi, I have a question, I just got my vacuum 3 mouths ago and it shuts-off?

Your new filter should last more than a week but you may have to clean it thoroughly after each use. One problem with vacuums that do not have a bag is the surface area of the filter is usually not very big so it does not take much fine dust to clog the pores of the filter. If air can't pass through the filter the motor will get hot and shut off.

I'm looking for CV1801 Vacuum Motor, Greator Toronto... Thanks

Hello There,

I've looked up your model vacuum cleaner, and it seems that I am able to still get this motor for your Eureka central vacuum cleaner. We're located in the United States, but we can certainly ship this to you.

Here's a picture of the diagram for you;

vacuumrepair_1.jpg
We sell the genuine Eureka motor for $199.00, however you may save substantially on this motor by purchasing it under the Lamb Electric name. The motors are identical, and Lamb actually makes this motor for Electrolux, and sells the replacement parts for MUCH less money they Electrolux. We sell the motor under the Lamb name for $119. I went ahead and added this part to our site so you could place your order if you wanted to. I don't have it in stock today, but my parts distributor is showing 3 in stock, so we can easily have your order shipped out within 2-4 business days.

Here's the link to the Eureka CV1801 Central Vacuum Cleaner motor, Part number 54586;
http://www.govacuum.com/10661-Eureka-Central-Vacuum-Cleaner-Suction-Motor-Assembly-Part-54586-.aspx

Hopefully this was helpful to you. I've also left you a link below to the parts diagram of your vacuum cleaner, in case you need some visual help to see how it comes apart. If you found this repair to be helpful, please be so kind and rate the repair helpful, or leave feedback for me. I really do appreciate it, and this also helps people with the same question find the answers easier. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at chris (dot) jones (at) govacuum (dot) com.

My Model 2961 Eureka wont take power now?

Hi,

Anytime that you smell that electrical burning smell on a vacuum cleaner, this is the motor going bad. There are two distinctive burning smells in fixing vacuum cleaners, the electrical burning smell which is the motor, and a rubber burning smell which is the belt.

The bagless vacuums cleaners in general, their motors last usually no more then 3-5 years. The motor in bagless vacuums work much harder then the motors in their bagged counterparts.

The motors in Eureka vacuums can range in price from $70-$120. If you can provide me with the exact model number on your vacuum cleaner (can be found on the bottom or the back of the machine on the sticker that also contains the serial number) I will be able to get you the part number, and price of the motor that's used in your vacuum.

It may be worth considering to just get a new vacuum cleaner at this point. If you'd like me to give you a personalized recommendation specifically for your unique cleaning needs, I'd be honored to do so. Please just let me know what types of floors you have mostly in the home and I'll be happy to share my knowledge of vacuum cleaners.

I hope this was helpful to you. If you found this helpful, please be sure to rate the repair helpful so other Fixya users that have this same problem can easily find the answer.

Thanks so much,

Chris J.

What is the difference between the 2 eureka enviro steamers: the 310 model, and the 313A? are they doing the same job, and which one is a better buy i.e., does the job, and does not cost an arm and a leg...

Greetings,

The Eureka 310 Envirosteamer is no longer made. Eureka discontinued this particular model several years ago. It was a very highly rated steam mop at the time, so Eureka came out with a new model that had a very upgrades which was the Eureka 312, which is also now discontinued. These two old models are discontinued because Eureka has introduced the 313A which is the best model they've made to date. This is the most current, and only upright steam mop that Eureka makes currently, so if you are going to buy a Eureka, the 313A is the one that you want to buy. It's a great steamer I think. We do offer a 60 day full money back guarantee with any purchase, I hope you will consider us when you're ready to go for it.

Please feel free to request a clarification here on Fixya if you have any questions I can answer further for you.

I hope this was helpful information for you. If this was helpful, please rate it as helpful by clicking on the thumbs up icon in the lower right hand corner.

Thank you so much,

What Model replacement belt do I need for the Eureka model 2961 BVZ?

Greetings,

According to the Eureka Part diagram for your particular model vacuum, your vacuum uses Eureka Style U Belts. Eureka makes actually 2 different styles of U belts.

The first style is the standard U belt, Eureka part number 54312. This belt is probably the one that came standard on your model. You may purchase this belt from the link below;
http://eurekaservice.stores.yahoo.net/uprightbelt.html

The other type of Style U belt that will fit your model is the Eureka Extended Life Style U Belt, Part 61120B. The Extended U belt is more durable, and lasts longer then the Eureka Standard U belt. You may purchase the Extended U belt here;
http://eurekaservice.stores.yahoo.net/exlifubel.html

Now, if you are quite sure how to change your belt, you may visit the link below to see the owners manual for your Eureka 2961BVZ that will give you step by step instructions on how to change the belt;

http://eureka.com/service/manuals/80244.pdf

I really hope that this was helpful to you in finding and fixing the belt for your Eureka. If you did find this helpful, please be kind and rate my repair solution as helpful by clicking the thumbs up icon in the lower right hand corner below. I really do appreciate it, thank you.

Feel free to request a repair clarification if you have any questions about the procedure of installing the belt on your Eureka, I'll be happy to help.

Very loud motor

If you are sure the noise is comming from the motor, either the fan on the motor is damaged and now not balanced or the bearings are bad. If it's a year old or less you can get it repaired under the guarantee at a Eureka Nationwide service center. Proof of purchase is needed. If it's over a year old it probably won't be worth fixing as the motor and labor charge may equal the price you paid for the vac.

Noise can also come from the spinning brush. If you disconnect the belt and turn on the vac and the noise is still there it's the motor. If its gone it's the brush roll.

Eureka Altima is smoking!
Posted by saysay on May 18, 2008
Help! My vacuum is smoking. It won’t work anymore and starts to smoke as soon as it gets turned on.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model #2996AVS – it is probably doing 2 things, it could be the belt and or brushroll and the easiest ay to check is to remove the belt and see if the motor smokes, if the motor is fine then buy a new belt and check the brushroll to see if the brushroll spins freely, there are bearings in the brushroll and thread and hair get bound up in the ends and needs to be cleaned out. So #1, check the belt – no smoke from the motor then check the brushroll to see if it spins freely then changed the belt. If the motor smokes check your purchase date it may still be under the one year factory warranty from the dop. #2. Either clean or replace the brushroll and belt. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
