SOURCE: Laars Teledyne Pool heater flames on for 2 seconds, shuts off

You have no flame rectification.....LLD series heaters check for a signal through the flame to ground; if the module does not detect this signal, it go through two more trials for ignition and then lock out the module. There should be a flame rod and it may need cleaning. I use steel wool.

Hi I have an H400 hayward. when heater is activated, it stays on for 5 seconds then shuts down eventually reading ignition failure code or IF on screen. the ignitor is new, the heat sensor is new, the gas...

When you say it stays on, Does the main burner actually light? If the burner never lights, then I'd look closely at the igniter, as it also acts as the flame sensor. Possibly you have a good enough ground to get a spark, but not good enough to sense the flame. If the main flame is starting, look and see if it is blowing off of the igniter. If this is the case, perhaps it isn't in the correct position, or there are still a few dirty passageways in the main burner. You can download a manual for your heater here: http://www.haywardnet.com/products/Manuals/pdfs/Manual285.pdf

Pool heater shuts off after a few second

You didn't indicate your exact model. There are different versions of the H200 series. If it is milivolt then there is no electric, Must have correct milli-volt pilot generator. If it's electronic, check the air flow pressure switch on the combustion air.

Opened & cleaned pool. Haward 250 Heater woun't stay on.

Could be a dirty or faulty ignition sensor. This is the sensor that tells the heater that there is a flame burning normally. If that sensor gets dirty or fails, the heater thinks there's no flame even though there is and cuts the gas as a safety measure. Cut the power, remove the cover, and check all the wire connections to be sure the leads are clean and dry and snug. The ignition sensor is near the bottom. If that doesn't work, then the sensor might be faulty rather than dirty. Call a tech to replace it.

HEATER GOES OFF ON EO2 OR EO4 CODE . WATER FLOW IS 145GPM HEAT EXCHANGER IS CLEAN FAN WORKS FINE. VENT PIPE HAS BEEN CLEARED OUT THIS IS A MINI-MAX 400 I RUN A FAN BLOWING ON THE HEATER AND IT STAYS ON...

EO4 is the heater fan error, it may go on briefly and then shut off after only a few minutes. most likely cause is a blown fan-there is a thermal switch installed on the blower fan that shuts off the fan when it gets too hot. the only workable solution is to replace the blower fan unit completely also 145 GPM is a very high flow rate; normal residential pools operate in the 40-70 gpm range and 110+GPM on commercial pools if this is residential you may have too much pump for your system. 1 1/2-2 hp is standard if you also run an automatic vaccuum off the same pump
