Hi davidf1291...

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley, or a faulty motor.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.
Note: This method works for most front loading machines.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if necessary. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and the two screws that hold the filter housing to the top of the dryer lid.
Then remove the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver between the top and frame on each side of the dryer to pop the lid up from the retaining clips.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards on a type of hinge and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine by disconnecting the door switch and removing the two screws located on either side of the dryer frame.
Move the door and front of machine forward to remove.
This will expose the belt, idler bracket and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
Note:The way the belt goes back on is, as the belt comes off the drum has to be doubled (pushed together to form a loop) and goes under the idler pulley then to the motor pulley.

While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a vasoline type of lubricant. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

I have an eziloader 6kg dryer, the drum does not spin but the heater element turns on. How do I check if the belt has come off?

can you turn the drum reasonably easy whilst the machine is empty and off . If you can than the drum has no load and the belt is either broken or has come off the drive pulley or the drum . Disconect power cord from socket and remove back off machine ..You know should be able to access drive belt and either replace belt onto drum and drive motor or purchase and fit new belt . It is a good idea to replace a belt that has slipped off and is not broken - belts stretch and its likely to come off again . If this is one with a sealed back then turn it on side and remove base to reach belt .

Drum won't spin on it's own but spins freely by hand. Was slow to start spinng before. Took front off but can not see belt at all, if it has one?

drive belt is normally accessed from the rear of the machine or if sealed rear from underneath(bottom) the belt is normally easier to get off the drive motor pulley first . Sounds like your belt is either already broken or has come away from drive unit or drum .

The inside drum quit turning. is there a belt that turns this and if so how do I get to it. I had the top open but could not see anything. The drum spins if I manually spin it so I know it is not bound up...

if you cant see a belt about 1/4" wide around the drum, there will be a mark where the belt was on the drum before it broke, remove front panel and restring belt around the drum, then replace front drum piece that holds the drum in place and then string belt around idler and motor pulleys and replace front cover

Dryer drum doesnt spin, can spin it by hand, is there a belt on it and how do you access the belt/motor

Yes, there is a belt, and it is probably broken.

To access motor ::

First, check to see if there are two bolts (one on each side) at the bottom front -- if so, remove these and pull the front straight up to unhook it at the top.

If no bolts at bottom, pop (raise) the top of the dryer with a large flat tip screwdriver inserted in the "crack" on each corner of the top. Remove two screws on top inside of front which hold the front panel in place.

You'll then have to remove the drum, and you'll see the motor in the back bottom of the cabinet.

More info, let me know.

Bosch dryer lights up when turn on nut drum does not spin

The drum spins around by the belt surrounding the parimeter of the drum. A tensioner is also part of this system. You may have a broken belt although the belt usually squeals before breaking so I think the tensioner is at fault. The top would have to be removed then the front panel next to gain access to these items

Whirlpool elec dryer, very loud and stops spinning.

The belt is probably bad and the noise is most likely the guide wheel for the drum

Older model dryer--drum will no longer spin. Need

The model number you provided is for a White Westinghouse. In order the access the internal cabinet to view the drum, you will need to lift the top panel. This is accomplished by inserting a putty knife along the front seam where the top meets the front of the dryer. About 2 inches in from each side is a small retaining clip. Push in with the putty knife and the top should pop free and lift up. The belt should be visible around the drum if it still intact. If the belt is loose, or missing, it has probably broken.

NOTE: The only way a belt will come off the drum while enclosed in the cabinet is if it breaks.

CAUTION: Make sure you UNPLUG the dryer before servicing. Dangerous voltage is still present inside the dryer even with it turned off.

To access the drum to replace the belt, you will need to remove the front panel. Remove the lint screen and lint screen cover in the door, first. Then, remove any screws holding the panel in place. The belt can be installed with the drum in place. Simply loop it around the drum first, then feed the remaining portion of the belt behind the blower fan housing and loop it on to the drive motor pulley and belt tensioner.

The part number for a replacement belt (if required) is 134503600. You can purchase a new one at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop around for the best deal. The first three sites also offer very helpful exploded view parts diagrams you can use as reference. Repairclinic.com will have diagrams to show up how to properly route the dryer belt. Just click on the "Repair Help" link, followed by the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the "Special Features" section. Refer to Diagram G under Westinghouse.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If the belt isn't the problem, please let me know.

The drum on my maytag epic z washer will not spin. You can hear the motor turning and it going through the cycles, but the drum doesn't spin. Is there a belt off or slipping? What is causing this?

Hi, The belt must have came off. Remove the access panel in the front and see if the belt broke. If the belt is off, see if there is an access panel in the rear that will help you get to the belt easier.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
