Battery Operation I put fresh batteries in (and they are in the correct position), but it will not turn on unless it is plugged into an outlet. Is there a switch to have it play on AC or DC?

I havae a Durabrand Model CD203 Boom Box Radio and have new batteries installed correctly and it does not work. Isn't this radio a battery operated one? If so, why can't I get it to work

Try removing the AC cord from the back of the boom box, it activates a switch that lock out the batteries. On mine it sets in there pretty snug and required a little tugging.

Motorcycle not starting

Hi Timothy, when checking for spark the CKP needs to measure the compression bump in order to send the correct signal to the ICM/ECM so always check for spark with either a third plug grounded or lift the end of the plug boot 1/2 " off one of spark plugs that are in the head. and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty
2. Fuel supply valve turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded with gasoline as a result of over use of enrichner.
5. Fuel valve or filter clogged.
6. Vacuum hose to automatic fuel supply valve disconnected, leaking, or pinched.
7. Discharged battery, loose or broken battery connections especially the negative cable at "BOTH" ends
8. Loose wire connection at coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, spark plug cable connections loose,
or cables connected to wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to faulty ignition coil, ignition module, or sensors " Manifold Absolute Pressure" "Camshaft Position Sensor" "Crank Position Sensor" "Brake Apply Sensor
11. Engine lubricant to heavy ( winter operation )
12. Sticking or damaged valves or push rod wrong length.
13. Primary cam sproket spline sheared or missing spacer.
14. Security alarm system not disarming.

1997 buick park ave ultra After I replace the battery, do I need to do anything to reset the electronics?

Usually when you replace the battery, you lose the memory settings on your radio, power seat memory and any other accessory memory settings. The engine might also have to go through an idle relearn process. The engine might run erratically until this process is completed. One way to avoid this problem is to install a memory saver, available at most parts stores and are relatively inexpensive. They come in two types. One uses an electrical outlet and the other one uses a square 9 volt battery. It plugs into the cigarette lighter or 12 volt adapter. Install the memory saver and leave it plugged in until you are done installing the battery. If you use one of these, then you do not need to reset anything. If you don't then you might need to reset your accessory memory functions and have unstable engine operation until the idle relearn is completed. Although the computer will correct the problem on its own by driving it, you can speed up this process by performing a manual idle relearn procedure.
1. Start the engine and allow it to run in park position with all the accessories off for one minute.
2. Put the transmission in drive with all accessories off and let it idle for one minute.
3. Put the transmission back into park and turn all of your accessories on for one minute.
4. Put transmission into drive with all accessories on for one minute.
I hope this information is helpful to you and thank you for using

I have a Casiotone MT70 made in 1984. How do I check the polarity as I need to get an AC Adaptor and don't want to damage the keyboard?

Here is how you might check the polarity of a 7.5 volt DC replacement adapter:

Put the 5 batteries into the unit and verify operation. NOW using a DC voltmeter measure the voltage from battery negative and meter negative connected and meter positive to the pin on the power jack. IF you see 7.5 volts positive, then the pin is the positive lead for the adapter.

If you see zero, then continue testing.

With the 5 batteries inserted, connect the positive meter lead to the positive of the stack of batteries. Now touch the negative meter lead to the pin.
If there is 7.5 volts there, then the pin is the negative lead for the adapter.

USUALLY the jack has a contact that disconnects the batteery when the plug with sleeve is inserted.. We are testing the jack without inserting a plug here so the plug should HAVE THE BATTERY VOLTAGE with correct polarity on the pin.

My camera does'nt on anymore

I've been experiencing the same problem and fixed it today. The Kodak Easyshare C613 has a defective battery door design and should be recalled. The problem is that the small copper connector in the hinged door doesn't make good contact between batteries.
  • First, check that both AA batteries are fresh. Then verify that the batteries are inserted correctly. Unfortunately, this camera has contradictory polarity (+ -) labeling. The hinged door has a positive (+) marking stamped in the metal on the side toward the lens while the plastic housing has a negative (-) marking on the side toward the lens. The metal marking is correct, ignore the markings on the plastic housing. The nub (+) side of the battery should be facing out of the battery compartment on the side toward the lens. The flat (-) side of the battery should be facing out of the battery compartment on the side toward the strap.
  • If fresh batteries are inserted correctly and you still have a problem, then use a small piece of paper to wedge the batteries in place. I folded a 1 inch square down to 1/4x 1/2 inch and placed it between the two batteries. Now my camera will turn on every time.
Hope this helps.
