How to change an operating system on the c:/ drive without destroying the information on the drive. Your email address: JCMCJMC68@YAHOO.COM

Your motherboard has to accept 64 bit OS before anything. If it is 32 bit only it will never load a 64 bit operating system. The easiest way to keep all your pictures, music and any other data files is to transfer them to an external USB drive. If you don't have the original software installation disks the software you have on the C drive won't run because the registry will have to be rebuilt. If you do get the 64 bit version of 7 to work, you'll have to upgrade most of your existing software to 64 bit versions. Example: installing a 32 bit version of Word will not run on a 64 bit machine.

I used twinkle cam successfully in windows xp. I have upgraded to windows 7. How do I get the driver or will anything work?

According to http://www.chicony.com.tw/download/di/driver.asp , the available drivers were written in 2004. Chicony has stopped supporting their cameras for newer Windows OS versions. I suspect they never made a 64-bit version of the driver for XP 64-bit.

If you had the 32-bit version of Windows 7, you might be able to use the compatibility mode to install the driver. To check your version, click on Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. Look for your Windows version and check if it says x64. If you see that in the description, you have the x64 bit version. Otherwise, right-click on the driver file from the above site (after extracting the files from the zip file). Choose Properties and the Compatibility tab. Check the box for always Run this program in the compatibility mode and set it to Windows XP in the drop-down menu. You may need to repeat this on the camera software as well.

If you have a 64-bit version Windows Home Premium, you may be better off upgrading to Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate. Then you can download and install Virtual PC and the XP mode, if your hardware can handle that software. This gives a virtual version of the 32-bit version XP that will run your camera. (The CPU needs to have virtualization support and it has to be enabled in the BIOS. Then you need enough memory to give the virtual XP at least 512MB -1GB of memory.) If you already have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, just use XP mode. Other virtual PC software exists but they require a licensed version of XP. (If you can find a valid license.) The only issue I've found is that files saved to the C: drive in one OS can't be accessed by the other OS. You have to transfer the files with an external drive, flash drive or burn the file to optical disc.

Dual boot systems with XP and Windows 7 can be set up if you have the XP license. Then pick the OS you need when you boot up the computer. This requires you to repartition the hard drive or have two bootable hard drives. Make sure to back up before partitioning the drive.

I wish that I had better news for you.

How do i increase the performance of ma dell inspiron M5030

You can perform the following steps for better performance:-
  1. Increase the virtual memory.
  2. Remove run, run once entries from registry. The path for run, run once entries is " HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"(For 32 bit OS) and " HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" (for 64 bit OS), " HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" (for 32 & 64 bit OS).
  3. Download and run a scan from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. The link for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is " http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=rb_content;main;pop"
  4. Remove toolbars and other Antiviruses
  5. Delete temp, %temp%, and prefetch files.
  6. Delete the files from this location C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files.
  7. Run Disk Cleanup by cleanmgr
  8. Reset the browser
  • For Internet Explorer, you can reset it by inetcpl.cpl
  • For Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera "ctrl+shift+delete".
Also if possible download ATF cleaner from www.download.com to delete the temp files and folders.

Hello,
You probably have a problem with your gear driver software and your chipset. This is a lengthy thing to fix but if you want to brave it, goto this link 3 Removing GEAR Drivers. Follow the section for your OS be it Vista 32/64 or Win 7 32/64.
Once you remove the gear drivers reboot your system and try itunes. Note: You may have to reinstall the latest version after doing this.
I stress... make sure you follow the gear removal instructions exactly as it requires editing the registry and removing some system files. If you edit the wrong registry entry or delete the wrong system file you may cause your system to not boot correctly.
This is a bit in-depth but its faster then what most people do in this situation... which is to reinstall windows :) I try not to recommend that! :)
Cheers Chris

I am using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit OS. i am having turbo c++ 32 bit software.how can i install it in my laptop...

The Turbo C++ you are trying to install is just incompatible for your OS. Because your OS is of 64-bit and you are trying to install 32-bit one. Try to find a 64-bit Turbo C++ program.

You can try downloading this one for 64 bit compatibility:

The four things that make 64-bit Vista inadvisable for ordinary users are:
1: No compatibility with old 16-bit Windows apps. This means ancient Windows 3.x software, which most people don't run any more, but 16-bit code can still pop up in the darndest places. Like, for instance, in the installer programs for other apps.
2: No automatic registry and file redirection, which is what 32-bit Vista uses to allow existing software to work with Vista's better user account security, even if the software wants to do admin-rights stuff to the registry and Program Files directory. Many apps still break in 32-bit Vista, but many more break in the 64-bit version.
3: No compatibility with existing 32-bit drivers. Everything on your computer will need a new driver. 64-bit WinXP is the same, and there aren't many 64-bit computers on which Vista won't at least install, but 64-bit Windows also has...
4: No support for unsigned drivers.
