Hi hisham ag...

Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank of weedeaters.
Also make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.
If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.
Once you have your carburetor rebuilt that should solve your problem.

Homelite model UT21566 string trimmer runs only on full choke and at lower RPM. I have disassembled and cleaned carburetor but that did not fix problem. Steve

Your carb high and low settings may need tweaking if it's not a fuel or muffler issue. I believe needles are made only to be adjusted by a technician. If you want to try adjusting it yourself, google and you tube your to see how.

My homelite mighty lite edger starts, but will only run on either half choke or run for 10 or 15 seconds and then dies. The choke filter looks clean.

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris.(Should be able to see daylight through it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

You may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Homelite gas trimmer will not run without half choke and throttle

You need to disassemble the carb. and spray with carb. cleaner. If you need tips on how to do this, just let me know. You may need a new carb. kit as well, but we won't know that until you first perform the first step, or if the carb. parts are more than 3 years old. If they are, then go ahead and buy the carb. kit and replace the parts.

Homelite MightyLite 26cc Edger won't start

You have to make sure the case of the plug is making good connection against the metal on motor. Use file or sandpaper to get good connection on the plug and the motor.

The edger does not start

HI, ALEX

1st thing is to take the remaining gas out of the edger and wash out the tank with fresh new gasoline. it is most likely the problem is in the old fuel. it will in as little as 3 weeks start to varnish or seperate into less combustible properties and will smell a little sour or vinegar.since it was running at the end of last season i would replace the spark plug and refill with fresh gasoline. i would also add a additive seafoam acording to the bottles recommendation which is 1 0z per gallom\n of gasoline. it won't hurt to add this to what ever gasoling can you are using because this is recommended for all gasolineengines. give it a try and it should get you up and running. happy edging!
