Question about Mitsubishi WS-55807 TV

1 Answer

Mitsubishi CK-3526R (PIP model)

The screen on my brother's TV started to darken for unexplained reasons. I removed the board on the back of the tube, but that was a temporary solution. It got to the point where it stayed dark. I dobut that the tube's worn, because one time, it went up for a second and died right back down. Also, when it gets dark, I can see about 40 faint white lines running across the screen. I have a hunch that it might be the horizontal driver, but it's just a hunch. I looked for leaky capacitors and loose soldering points, but I didn't find any. Can anybody help me?

I should mention that the lines are starting to double in size and that it dims into the nothigness, including the menus.

i have tried disconnecting for 5-10 mins, but didn't work.

how could possibly disconnecting the tube and reconnecting fix the tv (temporarily)?

  • ae_7fam Sep 25, 2008

HAHA.... I knew that as soon as the back was put on, a soultion would pe posted! Kinda ironic, if you ask me.

I'll get to it when I get the time.

Tv problem

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Based on your description of the fault on a conventional CRT TV , initial suspect would be a capacitor in the vertical circuitry. There would be a number of capacitors within the vertical area, the probable faulty one would be the biggest of the bunch. It would be relatively close to the vertical IC that is mounted on a heatsink. Incidentally, the technical name of your describe fault is "vertical foldover".

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Mitsubishi tv model VS6061 rear projection with rolling picture.

I know this is an old thread, but I would like to post this information in the hope that someone will find it useful.
I just finished fixing this problem on my 1994 VS-6061... the problem is the PIP (Picture In Picture) board located on the Power Signal board. The PIP board contains the numbers 530B552. I bypassed the PIP board by following the directions I found at the following link:
http://forum.doityourself.com/entertainment-center-tvs-stereos-vcrs-dvds/130383-mitsubishi-cs-35301-rolling-picture-problem.html
"Plug in a 4.7ufd @ 35v filter cap (+)at pin 5,(-)at pin 11. Plug in a .01ufd(any voltage) between pin 7 and 9. Just plug the caps into the socket, where the PIP board was mounted (they don't need to be soldered). Just don't let the leads from the two capacitors touch, as they cross each other. The 0.01 cap is non-polarity, so either way it plugged is fine. Basically you will bypass y-signal through 4.7u, in pin 5, out pin 11, and bypass c-signal in pin 7, out pin 9 of the PIP socket.”

The bypass requires 2 capacitors: One 4.7ufd @ 35v and one Non-Polar 0.01ufd @ any voltage.
Remove the PIP board, then plug the two capacitors into the socket where the PIP board was mounted: plug the 4.7ufd capacitor with (+)at pin 5,(-)at pin 11 and plug in the non-polar .01ufd capacitor between pins 7 and pin 9.
If there is a ground wire (possibly brown) soldered to one of the tin cases on the PIP board, then you should connect this ground wire to the PIP socket either at pin 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 which are grounds of the socket.
This PIP board was used in many Mitsubishi televisions and they were plagued with problems...This is why many of these older Mitsubishi televisions had similar problems…
Good luck

Mitsubishi TV hand me down

the problem you have is the video goes thru the pip board first and the pip board has a problem this is a known problem. the pip board has some capacitors that leak on the board. the model you mention is CS-27MX1 not XM1 but anyway the back casing was made for several sets of that size. so the pip is the problem and the bulletin is as follows;
1. NO MAIN VIDEO,THERE IS VIDEO IN PIP ON EXT1 AND EXT2:-CHECK FOR 1VPP OF LUMINANCE ON PIN 1 OF IC7000, IF MISSING OR LOW CHECK THE VALUE OF C7001 (4.7UF 35V), LOCATED ON THE PIP-PCB.THIS CAP MAY LEAK ELECTROLYTE ONTO THE BOARD AND OPENED A FEED THROUGH IN THE PATH BETWEEN C7001 POSITIVE LEAD AND THE EMITTER OF Q7003 OR CAUSE INTERMITTENT COLOR. PT#181P504090. 2. NO MAIN OR PIP VIDEO, CHECK CHECK C7014, 47 UFD 35V ON THE PIP PCB. PART # 181P502060 3. CHECK FOR 7.2V DC ON THE BASE OF Q7003,IF LOW OR MISSING.CHECK THE VALUE OF R7002 (150 OHM 1/10W).LOCATED ON THE PIP-PWB. PT#103P401050 you can by pass this by removing the pip board and jumping the VP connector pins 7 to 9 and 5 to 11

You might have a bad PIP board, When you say NO picture. Is it totally blacked out or blacked out with "blue snow". The PIP has been alot of problems in this chassis and you will experience what your describing. Capacitors are the root of the PIP boards failure. Let me know if I can assist you further.
