    Is this a common problem?

Do you know the part number?
What exactly is the part called so that I can order it?( "main control board" or "control assembly"....)
If I am to have a repairman arrive, it would probably make sense that i have the part in hand before he arrives.

I am a contractor by trade. Is this part something I can install myself?

    Thank you
    Rick

Failure of the control board, the compressor is kept constantly operational.
The control board will have to be replaced, a job for a person who has done something like that before. You will have to call a repairman.

Which board is being referenced here? I would like to order it and have it here for the repairman.
where is the best place I can get it?

I am a contractor. Is this something I can install?

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

With the info you posted, that error is explained by LG as follows...

Defrost malfunction - 2 hours after defrost starts temp sensor is not above 50F - Temp. fuse cut-off, Relay malfunctions.

You can open the freezer panel and ohm out the heater, fuse etc if you're able. To get to the bottom of this I'd suggest running a test program. To do so...

The test button is on the main PCB of the refrigerator (Test S/W at the back). The test mode will be cleared in 2 hours regardless of the type of test mode.

Let me know what you find and we'll go from there. I can send you a LG error code/service "pdf" if you want to provide an email address as well if you think that may serve you well.

Thanks for visiting "FixYa" for assistance today

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

I have a GE side by side Refrigerator Freezer in my garage and this morning I opened up the refrigerator side and it was very hot inside. The Freezer side was fine. What is the problem?

make sure both fans on unit condensor and evaporator are operating,if so then check and make sure compressor is operating,if not it could be the ptc overload relay on the compressor or possibly the main board located behind a silver panel in the rear of the unit

ICE MAKER NOT WORKING LBC22518WW (LG REFRIGERATION)

Hello, just like your problem, our ice maker just stopped making ice. We solved the problem by unplugging the refrigerator for about 2 hours leaving the freezer door open.

It started making ice a few minutes after plugging it back in. Obviously the line that supplies the water had frozen and this allowed it to un-freeze.

We didn't remove any of the frozen items in the freezer, at the two hour mark, everything in the freezer was still mostly frozen.

Thanks

Kenmore 71182100 refrigerator will not cool after clearing drain

Hey Donna! It normally takes 24 hours for your system to go back into it's "normal" mode after it's been off. I would wait until tomorrow and see if it's cooling down properly before you worry. You may call me if you like after you wait the 24 hour period. Hope this helps you! Ella

Warm on inside edges of front refrigerator doors, not very cold inside....and freezer is hard as rock. Setting on freezer is 3 and refrigerator was 3, but now we've turned up to 6. Definitely not normal....

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer--it could be that there is ice build-up restricting air flow from the freezer. See if you can see any ice there...Is it possible to defrost the whole unit for several hours (even over night)?
