Question about Canon Pixma MP270 All-in-One InkJet Printer
Error 5100 refers to the carriage not moving correctly. Its possible you had a paper jam and removed the paper and caught the encoder strip (the long black plastic strip thats the full width of the machine) it passes through the carriage so it knows where it is. Some grease or matter may be stuck to it. kill the power and clean the strip with a damp cotton bud. thats usually the problem. Its also possible that the strip has come out of the carriage and is twisted. if thats the case then the machines covers need to be removed to gain acess to the encoder.
