This is caused by a corruption on the Boot sector of the hard drive, it may just be a OS error that would be fixed with a reinstall, however the likely issue is with the hard drive, this would need replacing before reinstalling , to be safe than sorry. You can do this farely easily yourself if you remove the base plate from the laptop, they are normally a push pull fit.
