This is caused by a corruption on the Boot sector of the hard drive, it may just be a OS error that would be fixed with a reinstall, however the likely issue is with the hard drive, this would need replacing before reinstalling , to be safe than sorry. You can do this farely easily yourself if you remove the base plate from the laptop, they are normally a push pull fit.

Please provide a positive rating if this helps, if you require further advice please ask.

Boot Problem in my ASUS Eee PC 900 netbook

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

My netbook froze using internet explorer and had to switch off to reboot. Then could not load windows 7 again. rebooted again this time keeps asking to connect reboot device, any suggestions how to c

This problem can be caused by 3 things.
1: Fault Hard Drive.
2: Faulty cables or connection.
3: Faulty motherboard.

As it is a netbook I would recommend taking it to your nearest PC repair shop and asking them to test your HDD and motherboard.

Go to more than one place so that you do not get ripped off.

In this case you need to repair your OS. You need to insert the OS which is a bootable disk, in case of net book you need to connect a USB with OS loaded in it and select boot from USB in bios, for entering in bios you need to press the F 2 button while restarting the computer.

It sounds like you have a bad hard drive. Make sure you don't have any CD/DVDs in the drive if that model has one and you don't have any USB devices plugged in at boot.

Computer beeping and saying reboot and select proper boot device

When you reboot, go to BIOS, restore factory BIOS settings. If that doesn't help, you'll need to reinstall your OS.
