Cannot print from command prompt - Epson U220D Windows 7 32-bit New parallel port with driver New centronix to parallel cable Epson driver APD_455dE (I was using Windows 7 64 bit with a...

The Epson works fairly well with XP. It is to be connected to
a parallel port, usually LPT1
using an IEEE certified parallel printer cable. The computer BIOS
setting is best set for standard parallel port, SPP, bi-directional port
or similar. If possible, do not set it to ECP or EPP or ECP & EPP.

The only native driver for the printer is on the Windows CP CD. Install
using the Add Printer wizard.

The Epson LQ-860 drivers, and a few others, can be used. Using these
drivers, you will discover that the printer actually has some resident
fonts (in printer ROM) that are not accessible from the Stylus
driver. However, with this driver, graphics printing quality is
compromised.

Windows 9x drivers _cannot be used_.

Let us know.

You can change the default printer to any other printer that you have connected to your computer. This will simplify your printing tasks, since you can select the most frequently used printer to be the default. These instructions are for Windows 98. Instructions for other operating systems or versions may vary.

Click on the Start menu and click on Settings, then Printers. A window will appear showing the icons of all the printers that are installed on your system. Right-click on the icon for the printer you want to use as the default. A menu will appear. Click on Set as Default. To make sure the correct printer is now set as the default, right-click on the printer icon again. When the menu opens, a check mark should appear before Set as Default. Default Printer for All New Users b> Microsoft Windows supports a number of printers connected to any one machine. Windows allows users to customize their preferred printer for one-click and quick printing. If you create a new user on a Windows system, the default printer will not be set. Windows 7 allows you to configure a default printer for all users with a quick command-line setting. You must have Administrative access to the system and have the printer configured to run this command. b> Click "Start" and type "Command Prompt" in the Start menu. Press "SHIFT"+"ENTER" to run the Command Prompt with Administrator privileges. Click "Start" and type "Print Management." Press "Enter." Look at the name listed under "Printer Name" for the printer you would like to make default. Double-click it to open the "Properties" dialog. Right-click the highlighted "Printer Name" label and click "Copy." Return to your console Window and type "ntprint /setdefault name=<printer name>" and press "Enter." Replace <printer name> with the printer name on your clipboard. You can paste this by right-clicking the console window and clicking "Paste."

Unable to carry out print command

Issue : Desk jet 5150 Not printing
Environment :
OS - Not provided
Printer : Deskjet 5150

Solution :
There could be 2 reasons for your problem

check the following links
Solution 1 fig are available
Step 1: Press the Resume button
Press the Resume button. Wait for approximately one minute and then print a self-test by pressing and holding the Power button and pressing the Resume button four times. Release the Power button. The self-test page should print. If the carriage is still stuck, go to the next step.
Step 2: Power cycle the printer
Turn the power off and back on, following these instructions:

1. Turn off the printer by pressing and releasing the Power button. If it will not turn off, proceed to Step 3. If it does turn off, proceed to the next step.
2. Turn on the printer.
3. If the Power light is on steady, print a self test with the instructions above in Step 1.
Step 3: Clear the paper path
Reset the printer and clear the paper path of any paper that may be jammed in it, using the following instructions:
1. Leave the printer turned on and disconnect the power cable and the USB or parallel cable from the back of the printer. Do not reconnect them until instructed later.
2. Remove the paper from the in-tray.
3. Remove the rear access door or duplexer (if installed) from the back of the printer.
Figure 4: Removing the rear access door
4. Open the top cover of the printer.
5. Check for and remove any paper still in the printer. A paper jam could cause the error message and the carriage stall.
6. Replace the rear access door, close the top cover, and replace the paper in the in-tray.
7. Reconnect only the power cable. If the printer does not automatically turn on, turn it on with the Power button.
NOTE: The printer may go through a warm-up period of up to two minutes. Lights may flash and the carriage may move. Wait until this warm-up period is complete before going to the next step.
8. If the Power light is on steady, do an internal test as described in Step 1 above.
If the carriage is still in a stalled position, contact HP Technical support to have the printer serviced.

Transfer roller usage message on Phaser 7700. replaced..still wont print

I found the answer here: http://office.support.xerox.com/SRVS/cgi-bin/webcgi.cgi

Resetting Transfer Roller Life
  • Resetting the transfer roller life is to be performed only if the Transfer Roller Assembly was defective and or the assembly is replaced before an end of life or near end of life message. Not to extend the life of the assembly. Doing so may cause premature failure of other internal printer components.

  • The printer will prompt the user to reset the life counts if the assembly is replaced after receiving a Replace Transfer Roller or Replace Transfer Roller Soon message.
note_image33x30.gif    Note: If the main Menu does not appear on the front panel screen and only Replace Transfer Roller is displayed, there may be a print job that is either processing or currently printing. Try the following steps to clear the print jobs and reset the Transfer Roller life:
  1. Press the cancel button several times to flush processing jobs from the printer.

  2. If you do not receive access to the front panel menu by doing this, power off the printer and disconnect Ethernet, parallel or USB cable from the printer.

  3. Turn the printer back on, and while it is powering up, immediately start pushing the cancel key repeatedly until you receive access to the front panel menu.

  4. If the printer menu appears on the front panel screen, follow the instructions below to reset the Transfer Roller life if the printer did not prompt you to reset it:

  1. With Menus highlighted press OK.

  2. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Supplies Info Menu.

  3. Press OK.

  4. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Exit at the bottom of the menu tree.

  5. Now scroll up to Reset Transfer Roller Life.

  6. Press OK.

  7. Reset Transfer Roller NOW is displayed.

  8. Press OK to reset the transfer roller life.
