Question about Summer Infant Hand Held Video Monitor

1 Answer

There is no signal between the base and monitor. It has slowly seemed to be cutting out throughout the night for a few days and now has no signal at all. I have tried unplugging, turning off, adjusting cords, etc. Have only had the monitor for 3 months. I have the new version of the colour video monitor with touch screen.

The monitor oftenly affected by the interference from any electronic device. It is also cause by the monitor on for too long

Try unplugging your monitor and turn it off for an hours.
Then, remove the battery from your device.
Put the battery back in.
Plug the monitor back in.

See how it goes..

Why does it keep "saying" out of range?

if camera and base are within a few feet of one another does it have a problem obtaining a signal (syncing ) ?? as if it works ok then there might be a object that is getting in the way of the signal , radio waves move from its transmitter (camera) towards its receiver (monitor) in a straight line , if there is too large a mass in the way then the radio wave can't penetrate it and will be "lost" also ck both the camera's and bases battery levels (if they have one) for proper peak power level , as it takes energy to drive the radio signal towards its receiver .

Why do both incoming and outgoing calls cut off after a few minutes on base hand set?

It could just be a bad battery, swap battery's and see if the trouble follows. If so it is bad. Also on these lithium battery's you build the life to them, when it is fully charged, do not just use it for a few min. and put back on the base, if you do that's all they will last is a few min. after charged. Use it and leave off base, then get in the habit of only charging it at night and leave off base during the day. The battery should last 6-8 hours or more if not in use a lot.

Solar cockerel light. the prolem is the light does not light up at night. I think the light sensor does not work, the light is on during daylight, the battery does not charge enough for the light to work...

Yeah, there seems to be something covering the light sensor causing the light to stay on throughout the day preventing it from having any energy to produce light for night. Good luck

Do you have a good signal strength with the wireless USB adapter?
If not try moving the wireless router away from walls or metal objects and cordless phones, locate the wireless router higher.
See if there is a later driver for the wireless USB adapter, if so download and install it.

My moniter has completely stoped working. It at first was fading out for after a few minutes. I could turn it off and back on again to make it work but now it just is black

Good day sir/maam, hi, it seems that your monitor's power supply is slowly loosing power, this may be cause by parts inside to fail slowly, this may be resistors and capacitors, or a slow blow fuse, and a faulty switching regulator IC, then stops. Servicing LCDs are quite difficult, you need to bring it to your dealer for proper advice on your LCD.

When I turn on the tv it automatically turns off itself

Back again. It appears that the key is the order in which you connect things and switch the TV on or off. It took some experimenting to get to what's reliable. I'll spare you the details and confine myself to what works.
1. Start with the monitor cable disconnected at the laptop.
2. Turn on the TV with the source set to your regular satellite (or cable) signal.
3. With the laptop on, plug the monitor cable into it.
4. Switch the source (at the TV) to receive the VGA signal (from the laptop).
Voila!
To turn off, reverse the procedure.

I finally find a way to stop this problem from occuring : never leave your phone on the charger with the battery isnt empty !

I know this sucks because what best place to put your phone at night than its base. But try it and it will work (unless your battery is already damaged). In the morning when i go to work, I charge it for 8 hours, then when I come back, I take it off the charge until next morning.

I used to put it on the charge for all night and all day until I read an interesintg post :
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Telephony-Clecs-Long-2450/Cordless-phone-interference.htm

Since I have been doing this, I didnt get any more problems with my phone.
