Floormate stopped sucking up water as well as it used to

My floormate is about 5 years old... I don't use it ALL the time. It seems to have stopped sucking up the water as well as it used to. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Don't know how much dirt has accumulated in the recovery system, but mine was amazing for no more than we use it. The front of the head detaches and you can clearly see where the solution is being vacuumed into. A thin rectangular channel then carries the fluid to a corrugated hose in the back of the head. This channel accumulates a lot of junk too. By removing the recovery tank, you can see where the corrugated tube transfers fluid into another narrow channel which carries it vertically to the top of the recovery tank. The small section of hose seems to be the only thing that stays clean and doesn't limit flow and vacuum. The filter at the top of the tank, which keeps fluid out of the vacuum motor can also get plugged with dirt. Hope this helps.

I have a hoover floormate h-2800 that does not suck up the water

this is a great vacuum. however it does require an extensive cleaning every now and then. diaassembly is required for this. there is a hose that goes from pick up to the tank. make sure this is clear. also your filter should be clean and dry.

Hooverfloor mate isn't sucking up water like it use to. what could be wrong

Most of the time the squeegee is worn out which does not allow it to **** up the water like it use to. Turn over the machine and inspect the squeegee. If it looks worn or bent then it may be time to replace it. You may also consider replacing the filter. These are the two most common parts that wear out.

Quit sucking....seems to be the long narrow strip

yes its usually the squeege strip in the front that wears out. the two tabs on the front release the assy then there are two screws on the inside and one screw on the side of the squeegee in the center

Floormate stopped vacuming water

I'll answer last question first. Your floormate has a 1 year warranty. And should be taken in for repair.

Your issue of not picking up water, is related to suction and getting the dirty water to the recovery tank. check for obstruction in the nozzle, check the filter for debris clogging. If you have an issue with this dealer I would call customer support.

Hoover FloorMate won't pick water up

Check for the filter in place and it also requires a filter lid for proper suction or it will not work

Floormate not suctioning water back up

I love my floormate so muck that when my first one stopped vacuuming, I bought a new one - just figured it died. Then my new one worked well until one day, it suddenly stopped.

I discovered that the filter attachment holder (the clear plastic cover over the filter) has to click into place. I guess this might not be a problem for some, but I thought it just sat there over the filter. I finally pushed pretty hard (mostly in frustration at first) and it clicked into place. Now the suction works fine.

Hoover floormate plus model #H3010

It seems to be a common problem with this series of floormate... some home quickfixes (a hassle, i kno) but put downward pressure while using the solution.... Check your warranty that came with it, and how long you purchased the floormate... Alot of vaccuums come with 30-90 warranties, I'd recommend having it checked out. That, or if u bought it recent enough, take it back... like i said, these models are unfortunately known to have this problem... Some people have ones that operate normally, but alot do not. >.<

Suction problem? The drain tank goes into overflow mode and stops sucking up water

I had the same exact problem. The little plastic thing that hangs down is too light; my husband taped a quarter to it securely, and that solved that problem! Of course, this is January 2008, so I hope you haven't suffered with this problem all this time. Mweddell.

Won't suck up water from floor

1. Check all the tubes from the nozzle to the collection tank and make sure they are not clogged up. I've had tht happen pretty bad before. 2. Check the squeegee. If it is damaged or torn, replace it.
