Screen Display Issues:
Go to the BIOS. Once you power on the laptop immediately hold down the F2 key then BIOS will show up. Try to check in BIOS if the display has low illumination if yes then try connecting your laptop to an external monitor then toggle the display to the external monitor. If the display from the external monitor is fine then it means the LCD has issues and needs replacement. But before going into any LCD replacement try to update the BIOS version first.
DVD Issues:
Check first the DVD icon in My Computer window. If missing then kindly do this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318
