Question about Lexmark X4530 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I was able to scan to my computer four pictures without any problems. When I tried the fifth, I get a "scan request failed" repeatedly. Nothing changed between the computer and the printer. It's a wireless connection. Turning the printer off and on doesn't change the problem. I cannot scan anything now and continue to get the same error message. I've even tried leaving it unplugged for 30 to 40 minutes; no joy.

What is the status of the WiFi light on your printer? Try to check if your printer is still connected to your wireless network by printing the wireless network settings. Scan processing slow

Try making sure there is no power filter on the network line, and that the network line has a straight shot to the router without going through any other 5 port switches or anything. normally when the scans are slow, and the prints are slow, it's a cabling issue.

Toshiba- L755D- keypad- mixed- up- spacebar- puts- a- dash- between words the i button goes to full screen and the o button opens a developer tool window

Maybe a virus or infection has hijacked the keyboard. Try booting into Safe Mode and see if it works. Also while in safe mode download and install MalwareBytes and run a Quick Scan.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode With Networking option (this will give you internet connectivity) and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. Open your internet browser, then download and install MalwareBytes and run a Quick Scan.

Go to and in the search box type: "Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download and install malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When the site opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do not click the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the Gui Interface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version or Decline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run a QUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be in red. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad text document will open up showing you the results. You can close the text document and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTED RESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When it finishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot your machine.

If after the above steps you still have the problem try downloading and reinstalling the touchpad driver.

Get online and got to In the google search box type: "Toshiba Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.

If the issue still exists try Rolling your System back to a date and time before the keyboard started acting up by running System Restore.

Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Select a Restore Point (date and time) that is before you started having problems. System Restore does not delete you data, documents music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was installed after the restore point you selected).

System Recovery loses all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. It sets your system back to the time you first purchased it.

If you look in the manual, you will see the code to place the scanner in to "stand" mode which should do as you request. This mode is restricted to certain models however. Near as I can tell, there are a few variants of the Z-3051HS model that support this. Reference the manual at the link below. Please update this with any other questions you may have.

Trying to scan a picture into my computer; printer screen says "requesting scan" for about 2 minutes, then it says "scan request failed"

If you simply plug the new All-In-One into the USB port on the PC, a "new" plug-and-play event will install a new copy of the printer driver. To confirm that this is the cause of your issue, look for two copies of the printer in the Printers folder.
What to do
To resolve this issue, restart the PC. Scanning should now work as expected.

Ballast resistor location

should be on the firewall...can't remember which side but I think its on driver side It's ceramic rectangle with four wires. (I had one and just can't picture where exactly it was.) One tip though, when you put it back on, use some high temp silicone around top and side edges, leave bottom open. They usually fail from water dripping down and cracking resistor (gets hot).
