Question about KitchenAid KESS908SPS Electric Kitchen Range

Open Question

I started to do a self cleaning on my Kitchen Aid range and I opened the door to make sure nothing was inside the oven as the door was trying to lock and the lock came out with the door open and now I can't shut the oven door completely because the lock is sticking out. I called the 1 800 number for KitchenAid and they were no help. The person I spoke to told me to hit the Control lock and that locked up all the buttons on the oven so now I touch a button and it beeps at me. I turned off the breaker to the oven and a message came up Recent Code 0064 and AM71 UI75 EEKEO-068. I have tried everything I can think of to fix my oven. I need someone to help give me the solution to fix the problem. Thanks, Dustye Gonzalez

SOURCE: Kitchen Aid Double Convection Oven stopped during Self Cleaning

same thing happened to me yesterday took all day to figure it out was the themal fuse on the back of the oven the part number for my kitchen aid is 8300802 if you want the doors to unlock and reset the display you can take the leads off the fuse touch them together and the door will unlock however it is best to change the part took me 5 minutes once i knew what to look for
you have to remove the back panel and you will see the part with the number on it cost me 50 dollars but better than the 8o bucks to have a sevice guy come and do it next time i self clean i will pull the stove away from the wall to help keep it from ver heating

SOURCE: Self cleaning does not work

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

Has anybody had the problem of the oven door staying locked and won't open after cooking and has cooled down for several hours?

Hi,

The oven door lock should only lock during self clean only. SHould never lock during normal oven functions. While in self clean because of high temps, the door lock will remain locked for safety reason until the temps drop to about 350 or so then release. Thats how the lock system works. If you select the normal bake mode and your door locks you may need to have the latch adjusted or the unit checked for problems. Good Luck

The only time that the oven door should be locked is during the internal "Self Cleaning Cycle," due to the high temperatures used. Make sure that the display does not indicate that the oven is not in it's self-cleaning cycle, and try wiggling the door slightly to see if you can dislodge the sticking lock pin.

Pull the plug, wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. Don't touch anything! First check to make sure the door closes. If it does you are ready to set the self cleaning mode.

Oven door locked

Please check my earlier post on this problem.

I forgot to add that the only way the Tech is able to get the oven door unlocked after it shuts down in the Self-Clean (Self-Destruct?) mode is to take a pair of pliers and short across the bad Thermal Protection swtich before replacing it.
