Question about Dell Latitude D610 Notebook

Open Question

Running Alps 5.4.104.4 on my dell d610. The pc went unstable about a month ago and was hacked onto by a network user so I had to wipe and clean install windows xp sp3. Since the time of installation, my *TouchPad* lower-left and lower-right buttons have not been functioning. The Alps touch-indicator icon which resides in my *Windows icon tray, shows indication when I press both touchpad buttons. However the buttons are not actually functioning. I have tried using different versions of Alps, as well as the most up to date version. I have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it from dell utility and drivers.. Still nothing. I have utilized all options in which each alps version had to offer. Everytime I try to access the "buttons" tab in alps preferences, dell d610 beeps and the Alps application closes with no further notice or action. I have done a large amount of research on the dell support site, as well as utilitzed the d610 online manual. Would you by chance be able to help me or recommend tips leading me towards success to this problem? My only guess is that the ribbon under the touchpad is loose.. But I feel that if this was the case, the alps indicator would however not acknowledge any pad movement or button-action. I appreciate any help that you are able to provide to me. ~~In conclusion, I would like to add that the Dell D610's TouchPad was functioning properly prior to the wipe/windows install. Thank you!

SOURCE: dell latitude D610. Screen goes black. External Monitor OK.

Make sure you have not accidentally used the FN+F5 key
That combination sets the laptop to use an external display.

If using that does not give you a display take a small torch (flashlight if in USA) and shine it at an angle on the laptop screen.
If you can see any sort of picture you would be looking at replacement of some minor parts to the laptop screen

Hope this gives you the information you need. If not add any extra information you may have and lets see if we can FixYa

SOURCE: i'm interested in connecting my dell latitude d610 to a tv

A digital cable should be all that you need. There is a digital output on your laptap and a digital input on your tv. This should do it. If by chance your tv does not have a digital input then you can get an adapter to go from a digital input to an RCA input at any electronic supply store.

I need help, with a driver modem M5804 for DELL Latitude D610. I Installed Win 7 for Thin PC. Thank You.

jgarcia927

Part of the problem is the version of Windows that you installed. The D610 does not have Windows Vista or Windows 7 support so they may not have drivers for Windows 7 on your computer.

You might try the Windows Vista modem drive for the D620 to see if the modem is close to the one in your D610. Note most of the Vista drivers will work with Windows 7. However you may have an issue since you are running the Windows 7 for Thin PC as you should be running the standard Windows 7 HOME, PRO, or ULTIMATE on your notebook. Was there a reason you got this version?

Dell Latitude D610-Not detecting wireless networks.

Are you running the Dell Wireless Utility? Try stopping that service (go into Services, find the Dell program on the list, and Stop it, and then change the startup type to Manual) and start the Wireless Zero service (and change the startup type to Automatic).

When the Wireless Zero service is running, open your wireless networks list and see if you can see any networks (assuming there are some nearby to find). If you get a message that says something like "Wireless Zero is not configured to manage your network connections," go into the Advanced properties and put a check next to the box that says "Allow Wireless Zero to manage my wireless networks").

If you still can't see any wireless networks when there are some around, then maybe you do have a damaged antenna. It's probably not worth spending the money for parts and labor to have it repaired or replaced, especially if your computer is five years old.

Charging problem

It's definitely the motherboard based on the symptoms. You can send it to their out of warranty depot. Or you can purchase the motherboard from their spare parts sales dept, then look for a local tech who can install it for you.
