Re bosch16h water heater.my plumber bypassed the temperature limiter.should i be concerned?

Any time you bypass any type of regulator you risk putting everyone in the household in danger. For one, you cannot control the temperature of the water which, anything that is over 130*F (54*C) will cause scolding and blisters within just a couple of seconds.
Second, if there is no regulator then how will the unit know when to turn off the gas so it doesn't boil the water? I would be concerned with potential gas leaks and over-heating which can cause the water heater to explode.

I would have someone else come out and replace the limiter. Bypassing is a temporary fix to a more permanent problem.

Hope this helps.

I bought a AQ125BNG from my neighbor and when I read the instructions it says to use a gas pressure regulator on the AQ125B but I dont know if I need it on my AQ125BNG too is not that clear. I will ap

The NG at the end of the model # means natural gas. If you have a nat gas meter outside on your home, the regulator is already there. If you have propane gas for your home, then the control and the appliance needs to be converted to propane, if the conversion kits are available. Call the manufacturer if you have any doubts.

I just replaced my gas valve thermostat on my 6 gallon Atwood water heater model G6A-7 and the pilot lights fine, but as soon as I turn up the gas, the flame almost engulfs the tank. There is even a flame...

Hi,
There are a couple of things to check....
I am assuming that the gas is LP or Propane....
make sure that the gas valve is for the right gas and not natural gas...
Also, it is possible that the regulator that cuts the pressure from the tanks is bad and that maybe why the original gas valve failed....
If you have the correct gas valve installed, get a gauge and check the pressure of the gas right before the gas valve...it should be somewhere between 8 and 12 inches water column...
If the regulator is not working properly, check that the vent hole in the regulaor is not plugged by a mud wasp nets or something like that...

Pilot liht wont stay lit on hot water heater.

You will need a new thermo coupler to keeep the pilot ight on. It is a probe that touches the pilot flame to sense the the regulator to feed the gas flow. Upon failing it shuts off the gas to the regulator so the unit does not catch on fire. In other words it is a fail safe part that is required

Bosch 13b will not ignite/have gas to unit-no pilot gas

The gas regulator might have failed , not allowing any gas to flow, or the draft regulator is failing not allowing the burnt air anywhere to escape and for no new air to enter for burn.

My Bosch on demand water heater won't stay lit

DO NOT try to adjust gas pressure unless you have the appropriate tools and gauges to do it right. You don't want to burn your house down.

First make sure all of the gas valves are fully opened. If that checks out and the problems continue, call an HVAC technician or your gas supplier to have them evaluate the adequacy of the supply line as well as the gas pressure at your appliance. Go with whatever they say or ask you to do.
