Even when all properties are set to 'black & white' our Phaser 8550 won't print without all ink colours LOADED. How do I bypass this need so we only need/use black ink?


Only loading black ink and printing monochrome only is not an option on this machine. It must have color cubes installed to keep printhead purged and operating normally.

Xerox phaser 6200DP says its out of ink (black and cyan) but there is still plenty of ink --- if the supplies usage page is full of dark color, why wont it print anything else?


You may need to go into the printer configurations menu and reset the toner levels. I have seen this option on my 8550 when I had to replace the toners.

Give that a try to see if it'll work.

My Phaser is not printing colors correctly. I


the best way to do that is to take the ink cartidges out take a clean cloth of somesort and lightley dab the place where the ink comes out if that doesnt work try to take a little bit of rubbing alcohol an dab at the ink opening this will make the colors come out alot brighter and fuller

My xerox phaser 8560 is printing muted color


First off on your screen access troubleshooting, and perform the remove light strips and also remove smears and skips.
Next go to Xerox.com, under support and drivers enter 8560 in the search box. then go to the support page.
You want to look up the procedures for TEC color correction. And follow those steps.
If you are using a generic ink then, all bets are off in getting true color reproduction.

Since it's a brand new printer it's probably not the printer, but your set up . Not knowing what program you are printing from, I can't advise beyond that 1) check the reference for the program you are printing from about setting up your color to be compatible with your printer (look under color management). Usually it has to do with your file's color profile matching the printer profile.

Xerox Phaser 8550 having color quality issue


If you are using third party ink sticks contact the manufacture and they will, if you use enough of thier product, send you a new print head and send out a tech to change it. Media Science is the most likely source of third party ink.
You can also switch to Xerox ink sticks and the colors will be correct after several purges to get rid of the old ink.

An error code due to the print head, check the waste tray area for a spill, has the printer been moved lately? remove left cover and look for spill.

Trying to match color between photograph on monitor to printer. OS is Vista.


The only way to get color matching with the solid ink line 8400, 8500, 8550, 8560, 8860. Is to build you own colors with the CMYK sampler printout.

Beware this will print over 50 pages of swatchs showing the mix of CMYK for various colors. Your can then look at the color you want and see how it's made up i.e. 30% 30% 40% yellow gives a orangish color. You can then build these colors and name them in your application.

You will NOT get Panotone color matching with the solid ink series.
