13.5 hp tecumseh rider runs for 45 min then dies. Will start after engine cools down. Mower is 2 years old, no problems before, fuel filter is clear as i took hose off from carb and fuel runs freely thru it. Plug is not fouled. did leave fuel in it over winter with no additive but have added fuel to tank once this season before problems started

Hi there ken1943363

check your carby for obstructions to air bleeds and jets , clean carby out and check fuel needle valve it may be sticking ? check grounding wire from coil to switch it could be grounding intermttantly ?

could also be a ignition armature going o/c when hot or a tank breather is not venting causing a vacuum loc in tank - check this 1st , then check out ignition armature 2nd

may need to place a ignition spark tester in line with ht lead and plug, re-run machine and see if coil is going o/c when unit gets hot , as before you will soon see

once you know if its the coil , replace it and reset air gap and you should be good to

2010 model 20 hp Briggs motor. Fuel going through fuel line, but not going into carberator. Motor runs good for about 15 min, but after heating up this fuel problem starts. After cooling down for an...

Two things:
1 Is fuel coming out of the fuel line. Older mowers have old fuel lines and they tend to get weak and collapse went they warm up with engine heat. Replace the old fuel line.
2 deposits in the carb. take off the air cleaner, start it up and spray a good carb cleaner in the carb until the engine dies. Put some 'seafoam' in the gas and a little in the oil and put the air cleaner back on and start the mower and mow on FULL THROTTLE. this should claen out the carb. Yes the mower will run rough for awhile.

these two cheap fixes will solve 85 % of carb problems. GOOD LUCK

Lawnmower shuts off after 15-20 mins of running

Sounds like a bad coil to me ... it only makes sense that has the heat from the engine transfers into the coil the coil windings expand and causes a open resulting in ignition failure and no spark to the plugs... if you need parts try www.partstree.com

Self-Propelled Model Starts, then dies after about 15 seconds

I posted same problem as this couple days ago. Took mower to shop. The governor spring (located just under the air filter) had come off. So glad it was something so minor!

Engin will not stay running dies

No fuel filter but there is the air filter. Try removing the air filter and starting the mower. If this works replace the air filter. If not, then check the engine's carb. Engine was made by Tecumseh. There aren't many parts to a Tecumseh carb so replacing the few parts (gasket around bowl, float, needle and seat) isn't a lot of trouble.
