as i can understand you formatted using win xp so your drivers are not installed like VGA, sound driver.
you must have your motherboard cd use that disk to install drivers.

Try reinstalling your audio drivers, or use system restore to undo the update if yo are sure of that.
Reinstalling the proper drivers should generally fix it though.
In case you don't have them anymore, try the manufacturer's website or a driver finder program.

Try to acquire the latest drivers from the Toshiba website. Make sure you are downloading the correct one for your operating system.

No sound

You will need to provide the sound card you are using, or the model of the computer (if retail) to get the sound card drivers.

Here are 945 drivers though:

Ibm sound card drive

The motherboard (IBM FRU 13R8926) has on-board ADI SoundMax audio. It's used in a variety of IBM/Lenovo desktop computers- including ThinkCentre A50p and M50. This should be the download page for the A50p and M50 models:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-50534

You should be able to use the ADI driver-only download on newer (x86) versions of Windows; although it indicates 98SE/2000/XP, version 5.12.01.5410 worked fine on my Windows 7 Professional install.

IBM/Lenovo lists drivers under the system model number, rather than by component, but you can search the IBM and/or Lenovo site for the FRU number (13R8926, in this case) to find the systems that it goes with, and then pick one of those systems to find the relevant downloads.

No sound coming from my computer

Have you tried restarting your computer? If that didn't work try deleting the program for your sound card and try reinstalling it. If that doesn't work try a system restore, now depending on your operating system the fallowing information my not be accurate. This is for Windows XP Home edition, Click on Start>help and support>system restore. Then it will ask you what date you want to restore it to, then pick a date, then click continue or next and it should restore your system to that date. Hope this helped=)
