LCD and EVF will both come on but they appear black and a little "snowy" like an unavaible channel on analog TV. (Lens cap is off.) The LCD will still show old pictures in review mode with no problems, so the screen itself is good. The camera will take pictures and videos, but they appear "black" when you review them. It just won't display what I'm trying to take a picture of.
I had the same problem...lens not opening. When Old Jack said it will require a trip the the repair shop I figured that I would try my hand at fixing it. I turned on the camera and as is went through it's opeining cycle I quickly (and somewhat forcefully) tapped it on a desk the whole time it was opeining. Sure enough it is working perfectly now.

Usually the DISPLAY Button on your TV remote will toggle through several different functions: 1 sec, 5 sec, Always on.....
Press button until display on TV is off.
Or see if there is an ON SCREEN DISPLAY portion in the TV Menu and turn it to off if you have not checked that already.
Grab your sharp remote and press MENU, arrow over to SETUP, arrow down to RESET and press enter and follow that prompt to reset the unit. Once that is complete turn the tv off and unplug ONLY the tv for one minute then plug it back in. Then turn the tv on and see if you have channels, if you do, your audio should work on you analog stations, if you have no channels and all you see is a snowy picture do the following press MENU, arrow over to SETUP...arrow down to CH SETUP and press ENTER...you will then be at a screen that says AIR/CABLE, press ENTER, select CABLE or CABLE(STD) if that option is available to you. after then, arrow down to CH SEARCH, press ENTER, then you should be highlighted on ANALOG AND DIGITAL SEARCH...press ENTER and wait for 15-30 minutes ( or until you get a picture back) and make sure you DO NOT press any buttons or turn the tv off and you should be good. good luck 2 u
This TV does not have built ATSC/RF Tuner. I have this same model TV, the analog reception is snowy even with outside aerial. I have to get the Govt, Set box converter and the picture is now perfect! Apply for the Govt Digital TV converter Box and you will enjoy it
The black lines are because you are playing the analog 4:3 picture on a newer 16:9 shaped screen. If you don't have the manual, you can get it by going to www.sharpusa.com and search for your tv model listed. The user guide is available in pdf format.
According to page 35, you need the "view mode" button on your remote. You sound like you want it set to "S" for "Stretch".
