Sj9668, blender is leaking from bottom. I think i could go to the store and ask for a gasket? What would be the name of the piece to go inbetween the blades and the bottom hardware? slightly lose.

Most blenders have similar issues and it occurs when you have a binding and the seal gets hot and the rubber wears away.
in this photo I replaced this part it was only 9.98 on Amazon.
But it was for a black and decker. Because you mentioned the blade felt loose I would try that.
search Amazon for blender parts, maybe use model number of your blender. But save picture to phone and then you have idea what you might need.

My blender is model# KSB5 & it works fine; the problem is the 'jar' is stuck onto the unit. I cannot remove the canister no matter how hard I try. Help?

This is a most unusual case, under the circumstances I would contact KitchenAid for a solution, have you tried turning canister clockwise and anticlockwise, should unlock in "anticlockwise position" if no luck contact the manufacture.

Vitamin 3600 canister leak

I think it's the little washer in the blade assmbly since mine was worn to a sliver when it started doing what yours did. I replaced it with a similar washer and it worked for a week and then started spitting out metallic dust until it stopped working again. Could be the bearing seized. I would say yes a new blade assembly but I hadn't found one- since I have a 3600 which is very old-when my husband bought a used replacement container with a working blade assembly on ebay. $37 bucks, problem solved.

My glass jar leaks from the bottom

remove the screw on blade holder, and make sure the gasket is in place ,, check the seal on it,, if its defective replace it,, check along the threads to make sure that the canister isn't cracked

My vita-mix just stopped working, there is slight burned smell, I was blending walnut pieces with dates paste. Any suggestions?

If the burning smells like plastic then the walnut shells most likely put too much strain on the motor and burned it out. If the burning does not smell like plastic then you most likely have walnut shell grit jamming your motor.

This can be cleaned out by first ENSURING IT IS UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL.

  • First remove the canister (if possible)
  • The remove the blade (if possible) check for a build up of grit between the blade and the shaft connecting it to the motor.
  • Check the channel the shaft passes through from the motor for large chunks of walnut shells or date paste.
  • Clean the canister thoroughly with warm water and leave it to soak overnight in a water/soap mixture.
If this has not resolved the issue then try to claim it under warranty or source replacement parts online.

I am unable to remove the blade, what can I do

the blade is a screw fit on the shaft of the blender,, if you only use one blade just rince the blade under the tap and dry it off before putting it away, the only way to un-screw the blade if its stuck is give it a sudden jolt on the side of the blade with a soft hammer in the same way as it turns,,this may shake it lose,,,not to hard though,,,

Replacement parts

My blade assembly leaks just as you are describing. I found a website that offers replacement parts for Black and Decker appliances:
[Note: I have not ordered from this site yet so I can't say how reputable they are.]

They offer the glass jar, blade assembly, and other parts for the BL1900R. Judging from reviews, it may not be long until something else goes wrong.. I am gong to order the replacement part this one time. If anything else goes wrong though, forget it. Too bad. Black and Decker usually makes good stuff.
