Dropped Samsung A737 Slider

Hi there. I have had my phone for only 2 months. I waited too long to get insurance through at&t & low & behold I drop my phone. the phone works and the slider works BUT before i dropped it, it auto locked the keypad when slid down & auto UNlocked when slid up. Now it doesn't do it. and the camera is still functional on it, but it doesn't recognize that the slider is up to take the photo. It's like that sensor was knocked loose.

I need to know if there is a way I can take this apart & fix it myself w/o paying more than what the phone is worth for repair fees.

Would this be an easy self fix? or will i need to shell out the cash for repair service?

(my phone wasn't listed so i used the closest model number, sorry for confusion)

If you are not good at repairing small electronics (taking apart and putting back together) then get a pro to do it. I found out the hard way that trying to pry off the cover around the display (with the tools that came with my replacement LCD for my samsung a737 ) is the wrong way.

Under the battery are two very small screws that come out. Remove these first, they should be very short and have a very wide and flat head.

Then with the phone closed pry up the bottom the of the top slider and then push the slider top down (some what hard to pry and slide). You only need to move it about 1mm then you should be able to lift the whole top off. This is the hardest part of the job.

Then disconnect the the ribbon cable by flipping up the little gard along the top of the ribbon at the connector. This guard rotates to a 90degree angle straight up. Be carefull to not rip appart the flip connector. then slide the ribbon out.

Then flip the top over and remove the now exposed screws on the top along the edges.
and now you should be able to figure everything else. Three more ribbon connectors to the display to finally remove.

To put back together again just do the same in reverse.

I charge $30 plus shipping to do this for you.

Looking towards the future with you,

Dropped phone into water

You can try to disassemble the front cover and clean the joystick.

The ultimate solution is to replace the joystick yourself or at a repair store, since samsung probably wont accept the phone for warranty effects

Good luck

I have a U600 phone, but maybe this is a similar construction. I was able to detach the slider by removing 6 tiny screws hidden behind the sticker which you can see when you take out the battery.

Changing the LCD screen on a Samsung A-737

I had to take my sons phone apart when it got wet. I believe the screen was held in with some type of double sided tape. But you have to take the phone completely apart to get to it. I took it apart about 6-8 months ago and it is still working.
