Welcome to Fixya

I dont see any problem with your XBOX since it can detect other routers there. The router might be the one that is having a problem. it is not sending wireless signal. Try to detect the router's wireless signal by using a computer. If the computer cant detect your router then you need to contact the store where you purchased the router and ask for replacement.

Thank you for using Fixya!

instead of using wireless connection. have you tried using wired connection to your xbox? please test the connectivity using the wired connection and see if you can connect to the router using regular ethernet cable.

Go into the wireless settings in the embedded web server (usually 192.168.2.1 for zyxel) and make sure the SSID broadcast feature is turned on.
If you get stuck, post a reply to this solution and I'll provide further assistance.
The manual is available online, but sometimes their server chokes and the download fails, and of course manuals aren't always the easiest things to follow if you're already lost!

If you don't have the "hide prestige ESSID" enabled, the xbox should see it.
If it's not even seeing the SSID broadcast from the router, it's possible the router is defective.
In my opinion, Zyxel is kind of "bottom of the barrel" in terms of inexpensive routers. Trendnet is a close second, but only because of price, they at least work properly - they are just easier to hack wirelessly than some of the higher end routers.

Cant hook xbox 2 wireless router

I'm going to assume that you are talking about the New Xbox 360 Slim that has wireless capabilities. You must go into your settings and go to the network settings. When you choose to connect wireless-ly, choose your routers signal, and if it has a passcode you must enter this in to connect to your router. If you are using the older "fatboy" xbox, you cannot connect to a wireless router unless you purchase the xbox wireless network adapter. Please note that you cannot use the wireless network on the new xbox slim if you have a network cable plugged into your console!

How do u connect an an xbox 360 to xbox live

You need either a blue Ethernet cable to connect the Xbox to an internet outlet or a wireless router. If you use the wireless router, hook it up to your computer so it broadcasts a signal, then, depending on what Xbox you have, if its the new 360 slim you won't need a wireless adapter, you search for the signal, then connect it. If you don't have the 360 slim, then you need to buy a wireless adapter and it plugs into the back of the Xbox.

Cannot get connection to wireless router from xbox live console

I do just want to check, you are using a wireless adapter, correct? I don't mean to sound condescending at all, but there are many people who think that the Xbox 360 natively can connect to wireless networks when it, in fact, can not.
The above is assuming that you are using a generation 1 Xbox 360 like you have pictured. Some of the newer models do have native wi-fi capabilities.

Assuming you do have a wireless adapter, or that you are using a new Xbox, the best thing to do from here is to check your settings in your system menu and make sure everything is correct for the router you are using. The best place to look for help for this is the Xbox customer support page for wi-fi connections, which can be found here:

I have just got in broadband but my xbox aint picking up my wireless signal upstairs, ive got the wireless adapter for the xbox, its picking up a few neighbours network connections, surely my xbox should be...

It is possible that the Xbox will be unable to pick up the wireless signal being transmitted by your gateway because the signal is too weak.

The connection speed of your internet has nothing to do with the strength of the signal. The best way to test this would be to try to connect to your wireless internet on a laptop while sitting near the xbox. If you cannot, you will know that the signal isn't powerful enough to reach that location.

There are three common options to amplifying your signal if necessary.

1) Purchase a High-gain antenna for your wireless gateway
2) Purchase a wireless repeater
3) Purchase a new router/gateway with a longer range capability. A "Wireless N" enabled router would be optimal for this application.

Im programing my x box 360 it needs me to program the wpa net work to get this new x bow to work. im new at this expain things very clear , thanks

Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network. These instructions assume the wireless router is already installed with a working Internet connection. If after following these instructions you are unable to network your Xbox with the wireless router, see - Connecting Xbox to Wireless Networks - Why Things Go Wrong

Here's How:
  1. Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet port (sometimes also called a wireless network bridge) must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi game adapters that connect to a USB port.

  2. Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."

  3. Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.

  4. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)

  5. Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP.
  6. Save your settings and verify the network is functional.

On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live.

On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.
Tips:
  1. Even when your wireless connection between the Xbox and the router is working perfectly, you may still experience difficulty connecting to Xbox Live. These issues can be caused by the quality of your Internet connection or the firewall and Network Address Translation (NAT) settings of your wireless router. Additional troubleshooting may be required in these areas to achieve reliable Xbox Live connections.

The two wifi's have to be syncronised together. If they are operating on a different wavelength or frequency they won't connect with each other. If you have a disc(installation disc) for both reinstall both discs seperately and then retry.

How do I setup my wi-fi on the new xbox 360? Do I have to have the internet adapter i believe, even if wi-fi is built into the system?

Go into your internet test glade, and search for locatons to connect to, if the adapter id plugged in you should be able to search for wireless signals. Connect to yours or the best connetion, but just know, WEP or WEP2 connections are password guarded.
