Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a samsung DLP hdtv that has had picture problems for awhile. It is a few years old. The lamp was replaced about 3 months ago and since the image is still awful it must be something else. I don't know enough to figure out if it's the color wheel or dmd board etc. I am hoping for some advice if anyone is familiar with this problem before i contact service and start shelling out money. http://image82.webshots.com/482/2/52/1/2200252010100861717rsRGXj_fs.jpg http://image72.webshots.com/172/9/71/82/2064971820100861717ooqCCG_fs.jpg http://image72.webshots.com/172/9/90/3/2232990030100861717fWAHmY_fs.jpg http://image83.webshots.com/183/4/48/29/2186448290100861717KwppmjF_fs.jpg http://image72.webshots.com/172/1/70/26/2707170260100861717BUaDbJ_fs.jpg

For some reason links don't always work, if you copy and paste the URL they should.

Does the color wheel have to be physically broken to need replacement? I took apart the tv and the wheel is intact. There is one very minuscule chip off of one piece on the wheel but I don't know if that would cause these problems?

Great pictures of the problem, and thank you. You have a bad Color Wheel. It for the most part, very easy to replace, and runs about $175.00.

Have you checked the lamp? If the tyv is 3 years old and the lamp has never been replaced,it's time. The crackling noise also sounds like a blown lamp.

My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

Loud pop and picture went out.I have sound but no picture.

I had this happen a few months ago. More than likely the color wheel died. I opened up the back of my Samsung DLP expecting to find a blown lamp, but came to find out that only the color wheel was in need of replacement.
