If your laptop has a button or switch (usually located either just below the screen or just below the area where the screen goes when you close the lid) check if it's in the correct position. If it is, then right-click the wireless icon on your taskbar and select the option that reads "Open Network and Sharing Center" then, on the new window select the option that reads "Change adapter settings", there it should show you all the network adapters that your laptop has, among them, the wireless one. Right-click the icon for the wireless connection and click the "Enable" option. If it doesn't let you, then click the "Properties" option instead. In this new window, go to the "Driver" tab, there should be a button that Enables and Disables the driver. If it says "Enable" click it to enable the wireless network adapter. If it doesn't work, you could try and find a new and updated driver for your network adapter in the sony VAIO webpage or restore your system to a date previous to when it stopped working. Hope this helps.

Vaio is a wide range - but look for a switch on the side to activate the wireless card.

Also check the device manager start-run-devmgmt.msc to make sure the card is enabled.

Depending on the model you own, most Sony Viao laptops have a small slide switch along the front edge.

Unable to turn on the wireless lan at the Vaio Smart Network. Message appear that "Turn the WIRELESS switch on the VAIO to ON, and then try again'

Dear user,

on sony viao you need to two things:

1st ) manually pull the slider switch in front or side to ON position (see your manual for exact position if this switch)

2) go neat the date on the screen and open options for connections there maybe u know this. and enable the LAN/Bluetooth by sliding the slider on screen

Maybe your ding just one of the two steps hence the problem as described by you.

Does the sony viao PCG-FRV25 have built in wireless internet access? Cheers, Lynn

Yes every piece from Sony laptops has built in WiFi for internet access. To use it look for a button with WiFi on your pc. If not found read manual.

My laptop ( sony viao laptop) fell and now once turned on I have a black screen all lights and sounds are good. Could this be a led disconnect problem or a video card situation. What type of video card...

Unlikely to be a vga cable loose, but you can check by removing the switch panel cover and the screen to check it is still firmly housed.

test the laptop first in an external monitor, if you get an image, then the graphics chip is still ok

This then points to the screen, may appear undamaged, closer inspection with a torch, shone through the back of it will show any cracks you do not see straight away.

If the screen will not light up, fault is probably with a damaged backlight or inverter, you are then looking at a new (or 2nd hand) screen

My lap top wont connect to my broadband

Download the latest drivers for your computer:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCVRS712
there are two files there which should match your copmuter:
the network driver, and wireless.
install them on the PC and then restart. see what happens next- if you still cannot access the internet, open control panel and network connections and see what happens there. Please update me when you have more information

Hi there, my name is Alex and I am here to help solve your problem

On older models, the wireless switch is the Fun key (the key between the bottom windows logo key and control) with number 2. Press those 2 keys together and it should turn on.
