Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

Problem with my screen

Hai dude!

(My computer is avtually a dv9665eo, but couldnt find it under valid products)

So well, recently installed winxp, on my laptop due to being sick and tired of vista, everything went fine, i created a disk with a sata driver and it installed no problem. So far ive been fixing a few problems like USB not working and stuff, but the only thing i cant really seem to figure out, and which annoys me like hell, is my screen. It keeps acting slowly when i move around stuff on my screen or when i scroll down.

I dont really think its due to my computer being slow (Been playing world of warcraft on full graphs, i know its not the most serious stuff, but it should be ok)

I thought it might be my screen driver thats outdated or something, but so far i havent had any luck.

Must be the drivers, or the laptop may be overheating, maybe too much dust in the ventilation.. easyest way to clean the dust would be to use canned air, but here are the drivers i found from hp website

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=3631226&

you could also check windows update for newer drivers
www.windowsupdate.com (need to be on the laptop)

I was looking around the specs of the laptop,, you got a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS? is that right?

You on windows xp?

then here are the latest drivers, just released few days ago
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20121

note that the drivers will probably not install on your laptop and complain about not found details of your videocard.

if you got the nvidia 8600m you need to download this modifyed inf file
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/175series/17789/nv4_disp.inf

you need to run the setup program, extract it somewhere, and then you need to place the modifyed nv4disp inside the setup folder, you will need to replace the old file, after that the drivers will install.

if you got a diffrent windows (not xp 32bit)
then look here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

Yeap, you need to insert the nv4 file into the setup folder so it detects your videocard.

Your are probably missing a driver. Or a wrong driver is installed on your pc click on the start bottom in your windows and search for device manager if you have a tab called other devices in device manager you are missing a driver if that is the case run lenovo system update on your machine and it will find and install the right driver for you.

My computer give error message that windowvista(TM)build 6001,copy of window is not genuine

This will allow you to bypass the Microsoft Genuine Validation thingythis method works better than many others i've tried before.
forget the cracks and injectors etc... this is the BEST WAY:
1) start > run > "regedit" (without the quotes of course)
2) go to the key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents\OOBETimer...and doubleclick on it.
Then change some of the value data to ANYTHING ELSE...delete some, add some letters, I don't care...just change it!now close out regedit.
3) go to start > run > "%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a" (again, dont type the quotes)
4) the activation screen will come up, click on register over telephone, then click on CHANGE PRODUCT KEY, enter in this key: JG28K-H9Q7X-BH6W4-3PDCQ-6XBFJ.
Now you can dl all the updates without activating,
and the Genuine Microsoft Validation thingy won't bug you no more!!
Works with most WinXP versions though ther r some exceptions...

Got puter updated now touchscreen doesn't work

AAh ha. That means the mother board disk has probably not been installed yet. You will need the mother board disk or the install software for the computer.
You will need to register with Panasonic to get your software. This is a commercial product so you will have to provide a valid serial number.

I boot it up and it gets to the log in screen. I try to log in and it says windows is having a problem validating my copy of windows, and it logs off immediately. I cant enter safe mode at all. I run...

A problem "validating copy of windows" means that you may not have a legal copy of windows or that you entered an incorrect product "key" (a set of numbers and letters that are used to validate your copy of windows). If you are sure that you do have a legal copy of windows, the only way to solve the problem is to re-enter the correct product key or call Microsoft.com for support.

When i install window xp in my laptop it shows a blue screen.

First when you power up the computer PressF1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios .
Then load optimal defaults then save settings and exit.
Then boot your computer with winxp disk..
Delete all partition of harddisk and create partition again .
.
Try this 2-4 times you done it.
If still face problem then you have to refix RAM memory. Also check that your winxp disk is working fine.Change your winxp disk then try.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Deleting my C drive

Hey,

Unfortunately, windows stores the start up files in the first drive, thats most likely c.. What you can do is. You can delete the windows vista folder from c drive. And then you need to edit the boot ini file so it automatically starts up xp.

Basicly in xp, delete everything related to vista, the windows folder and applications on vista. be carefull not to delete anything important. Ones you have cleaned the c drive of vista, by hand, you can erase the vista startup entry by

press start -> run -> type in msconfig
f03d684.jpg
as you can see I also have a few windowses installed, haven't bothered to clean up due to 1 000 GB drive :-P Anyways just click check boot paths, it should find that the vista is now invalid since you deleted the folder, now it wont bother you at the start up.

Sorry but right now I don't have a good method of moving the bootup files from C to D and then erasing the C drive.. without reinstalling xp on the c drive. Its pretty complex.

let me know if any problems come up.

Seriously man, you own! ^^

Not sure what driver it needs.. need you to:

press start -> run -> type in it: msinfo32 press enter

on the left side, see Components, press the + to extend the list
Select Problem devices from the list

now on the right side you should see all your devices that are lacking a driver

Type me all the PNP Device ID's from the right side, the ones that have error code The drivers for this device are not installed.

then I can find you the ones you need.

sorry delayed response :)
