Not sure what type of Hotpoint fridge - but the bulb may be behind a plastic cover.

Remove the cover then unscrew the bulb.

A cage - ok, so not a new fridge - let me go back in time - check for a screw or sometimes they were squeezed in - bringing the `teeth`on the outer edges under the metal wall - hope this helps

  • nabrown21 May 27, 2011

Thanks - sadly I am a mere woman and this cage was put in to withstand a nuclear holocaust - I will have a bowl of porridge and try again................

  • Syllamo May 27, 2011

    Too funny.
There is no screw holding it in? At an awkward angle perhaps?

  • Syllamo May 27, 2011

Do you have a model number to offer?

  • nabrown21 May 27, 2011

Unless I actually climb in the fridge - and I know I'm petite but seriously - I can't see anything holding it in - awkward angle is the understatement of the year ! Obviously designed by a man !

  • nabrown21 May 27, 2011

Sorry Claudia Schiffer didn't leave one............

  • Syllamo May 27, 2011

Designed by a man which could never get a model`s number ;)

  • nabrown21 May 27, 2011

Sorry but it is Friday night and you did ask for that one !

  • Syllamo May 27, 2011

No sorry needed, is funny. Have you muscled up yet for another try?

  • nabrown21 May 27, 2011

Decided to "chill out" with a glass of wine instead - I'll tackle it tomorrow after my porridge - thanks for your help anyway.

  • Syllamo May 27, 2011

Enjoy and my pleasure - hope it helps.

  • nabrown21 May 27, 2011

I'll find out tomorrow - got a feeling it's going to be a long day............

Lightbulb not working in fridge freezer. How do I remove panel to get to bulb

Try pushing the sides of the plastic to remove it. Then you can access the bulb. Do not remove the bulb with your bare hand. Use a dry towel because if the bulb breaks in your hand, you have a problem. Unplug the fridge when you do this.

Trying to change upper light bulb in fridge

Make sure you unplug fridge from wall power socket, remove bulb cover if one is fitted.Carefully twist or gently try to unscrew bulb. If successful take bulb to electrical parts shop and buy a new one.You may of course use your Fridge until you buy a new lamp,Refitting is simply the reverse of removing bulb.Good Luck!

Removing bulb from fridge/freezer.

Usually the light bulb base is a screw, to remove it you need to rotate it clockwise (facing your fridge). I highly recommend you to use a towel to handle the lightbulb for safety reasons.

If you are replacing it, please be aware that you should use a 25W or 45W light bulb.

Hope it helps.

Light bulb gone out and fridge freezing

Hello there! When you close the door the light goes out anyway. Food does not need to be in light to remain fresh as you probably already know. If the light is not working because the fridge is not getting power, the breaker is tripped or the fuse is blown, then fix those problems, your food may spoil. A bulb is easy to change and only costs a couple of bucks. It is just like changing any other light bulb. Good luck xoxo

Lights out & fridge freezing after switching off and moving it

a servicing expert told me when bulb goes can cause a failure on control board. others confirmed control board failure occurs often and the only other part that goes is the compressor (and thats really expensive to repair!). control boards can be fitted yourself - mine cost about £50.
